"Jackson High School's Danny Oh, one of the state's most prolific hitters, has accepted an offer to play at the University of California, Berkeley next year."
You send me some article about a kid who has been accepted to play college ball and tell me I don't know "what" Sandy Koufax is. No, I don't know what Sandy Koufax is.....and still don't after reading your link and doing a google search, but my Pop knows the major league pitcher by that name quite well and says he had the best curve ball in the Majors. Sandy showed him how he did it since Dad was a pitching coach.
Good luck to your brother. I hope he makes it. What most people (especially you) are clueless about is the profound difference between even AAA ball and the big leagues. The physical skills are similar, but the mental toughness is what makes the difference. That disregards the hall of fame skill set.....those guys really are a whole different breed.
SWEET.
GO BEARS!
and hell, while we're on the subject of the greatest pitcher ever, go dodgers, too.
car racing and horse racing are not sports because the people are not moving under their own power, they're burning gasoline to do it. that's like saying reading a book from cover to cover is a sport because it takes endurance to stay awake long enough.
and golf is not competing against other people, it's competing against a grass turf with holes in it.

Yea I don't know what your trying to explain either...I think anybody that knows slightly anything about baseball history knows who Sandy Koufax is...and what your arguing makes no freaking sense.
I knew a kid who I could hit off of back in Select ball 4 years ago that now goes to college to play baseball...but o yea SANDY KOUFAX. Does using his name make your argument valid?
I know about 10 different guys that are playing at 5-7 different colleges right now...Few got drafted over the past few years, but didnt sign...thats besides the point...but saying Sandy Koufax automatically means I can hit a 85 mph fastball and makes me special!!!
That's the kind of kids that are in that league. Basically it's playing against future big league players. I could have been if I persued it more, that kid throwed HARD as a pitcher, but also hit homeruns like nothing. Heard of Travis Snider? Search him, he's in the Triple A now and he's 20 years old and went to that same high school.
Please bro just shut up if you don't know what you're talking about honestly you make yourself look stupid.
Oh and my brother DOES turn THE fastest times at the track (in his rookie year) and YES he can hang with the big boys. Like I said man, just shut up you don't have a clue. He's turning quicker times than both a 3 time track champion and another past 4 time champ in different leagues. And yea like I said he would hang with the "big boys" if we had a sponsor and money and a car to do it in.
Okay, so you played in a select little league?.. you think you have any shot at even being able to hit minor league pitching? You played when you were 14? you really think that makes you sound good? I played in an American Legion traveling team till I was 18 and played on the highschool varsity baseball team. I went to college on a baseball scholorship before blowing out my elbow, and eventually enlisting in the usmc... I can tell you for a fact I have hit 80+ mph pitching at the juco level. You have no idea how absolutely stupid you sound talking about a league... little league actually.. like that. We played teams from all over the country in tournaments on the traveling team I was on, not just the regional all stars, but national level kids. And one guy you know made it to the minor league that played in the same league? How does that even come close to justifying anything? You are trying to make it sound like everyone on the team you were playing against were that quality.. and they werent. You do realise, if you were anywhere near as good as you claim, that a MLB team would have had you under contract at that age? Its not one bit unusual for them to sign highschool kids to go into the farm teams before they graduate. I played against many people who had those type of agreements when I was in american legion.
Infact... Here, this is the stadium we played baseball in from the time I was on the 14+ team. Last year they hosted the American Legion world series.. wish it would have happened back when I was playing.
nice.
i played until i was 17, and i can say hitting minor league pitching is not exactly cake. just about everyone in the state knows of my league's teams. were on the eastern border of PA, and Im going to school in the north central part of the state, and ive met people from Pittsburgh and the surrounding area that knows of us. our American Legion team has been around for quite some time, but even since 2000 we have had a handful of state and regional championships. we got states twice when i played, but i dont remember how far other teams over the years have gotten.
we have a league around here we call "Connie Mack" which is like "Babe Ruth" or some of those other 13-17yr leagues, with different divisions for the age groups, all played on regulation size fields. i was the top catcher in the eastern part of the state for my division just about every year, but i just lost the time to play. up until i stopped playing, from about 11yrs old, i had to catch for a guy that has one hell of an arm. on a little league field he was throwing the equivalent of a 105mph fastball at the major league level, at age 14 he was easily breaking low 80's consistantly.
id love to get out there and catch again, but its been about 4 years since, and i just dont know if i have the time. i am really tempted to get a wiffle ball team together, to have something to do that doesnt take as nearly as much time and comittment as playing competitive baseball does.

You are THE biggest ****in retard EVER. I don't need to explain myself to someone who doesn't know WHAT, not who, Sandy Koufax is. WHAT WHAT not who.
Baseball you're competing against a fence and a ball. Basketball you're competing against a hoop and a glass backboard.... Soccer competing against a goal.
Golf you have to BEAT someone to win. NASCAR you HAVE to BEAT someone to win. It's a sport no otherway around it.
Koufax is the biggest select baseball league to date, where most prospects come from, where scouts watch (I even had a few looking at the state championship) play against THE best *insert age group* players in america. I traveled to vegas for tournaments california. Brother played in at least 10 different states for the Seattle Stars.
Anyway i'm saying with that link, those are the type of people I played against, the best.
Burnsy, you don't know anything about NASCAR so I suggest shutting up now litterly. You don't know that race car drivers before they got to where they are now, had to set the cars up THEMSELVES, BUILD the car themselves, DO the changes themselves to even make it on the track. Then they got there crewchiefs and all that now but then can still work on their cars believe me
HAV- Little League?? At age 14??? WHat? 10-12 is little league bro, ever watch the Little League all stars on t.v? I was a 2 time all star (can only be on it 2 years 10 and 12). I'm not saying i'm good now. I was VERY good. And it's not hard to get a scholorship or play on varsity haha come on now. I know 2 kids who are not the best that have scholorships at my community college. And your league you played in, is not very good. It has a hopped up name for something that isn't worth the time.
Also when you turn 16 the league is called Mickey Mantle where if you're good, like my brother was, he was invited to the Seattle Mariners spring training camp deal. That's what happends in that league.

http://www.wsskba.com/ Doesnt look like there are any requirements at all other than age, and its only intra state unless your team wins the regionals. I played in tournaments all across the country. And you know, if it was so easy to get a scholorship maybe you should have gotten one.. Perhaps then you wouldnt type like Dog the Bounty Hunter speaks, "bro"
"I coulda been a pro baseball player, but **** it, that **** was too easy for me, so I'm gonna go get a normal job instead so I can have a four-colored mustang II."
I understand completely.

I'm glad i made my points end of discussion.
ON a side note. I'm glad my car (which is faster than redasses) defines the kind of person I am. Also when I was a freshman, I didn't want to deal with how much practice my team had so I quit, plus I had tendonitis in m right elbow and didn't feel like having surgery and or sitting on the bench for a whole season. That's why I retired from baseball.

the important thing is not how awesome your pinto is, it's how awesome your baseball skills are.
did you really just say you "retired from baseball" when you were a freshman in high school? ****, I guess I "retired from basketball" around the same age. I could've been like Michael Jordan, but I'd rather have a desk job. like I said, I understand completely.

Can you say glutton for punishment........sure you can boys and girls.......

Can't...stop...laughing!
Yeah, if it wasn't for the fact I was too small and slow and would rather work on cars I would've stayed with football and showed that Vince Young guy how to really play football.
But, alas I wasn't any bigger...and I didn't go to UT...but boy if I did!
As far as MOTORsports go...F1 makes nascar look retarded. I do enjoy going to the races at Texas Motor Speedway though. Only place on the planet where there are more feet than teeth.

Quite a few studies have shown the hitting a baseball consistently is far and away the toughest task of any profressional sport. BTW.....Ted Williams.....best ever
Exactly

LOL at "I played little league baseball is easy". I hit 3 homers in little league and was consistently one of the top 5 best players on my team all through babe ruth. I played JV baseball in highschool at which point I lost love for playing the game on that competitive level (I'm more of a sandlot pickup game kindof guy). I was decent, no where near amazing but baseball helped define who I was growing up, I couldn't ask for a better sport to play growing up. A kid from our school went to TCU on a full ride with serious interest by the Yankees (pretty sure he got drafted but still goes to college). Throws the ball an easy mid-90s (thats MPH). If you've ever faced a kid that chucks the ball 90+mph you know how intimidating that is, definitely not as easy as driving a car around an oval.
Near me we have the Saratoga Race Track and all summer I have to deal with the sports section calling horse racing a sport. It is exactly like racing cars, only with less power. Poor horses make these guys all this money and are killed once they are of no value anymore.
And golf takes serious skill, Tiger Woods is the richest athlete ever, but lets not get into that debate
