He'll be a head in a bottle like on Futurama, except dead.

I won't argue that baseball is the most difficult sport when compared to any others, but it does require the most hand eye coordination when batting. Puck handling in hockey is probably second.

As for NASCAR requiring 'skill'. I think we should examine the differences between technological/mechanical 'know-how' and physical abilities/atheleticism.

I'm not denying you have to be a skilled driver. But while you make the case that not anyone could get into a NASCAR and drive it to the fullest of its potential, I don't think there are many NASCAR drivers that could go out onto a major league baseball field and hit .100 over any period.

Same for baseball players in a nascar bro you make no "valid" point by saying drivers can't go out and hit a ball. Baseball players couldn't even come within five seconds of a Tony Stewart, Kyle Bush, or Carl Edwards lap time, with an already set up car. Now you send them out with a off the trailer car, and HAVE them set it up, tell the crew chief what they are feeling, and all that, they would spin out wreck the car never hit full throttle.

I played Sandy Koufax baseball up until 14 (where we won the state championship also i went 2-3) and I know how hard it is to hit an 85 mph fastball. Not that hard. Specially for me.

Lets just say, you can't compare these 2 sports, but I still believe NASCAR is THE hardest sport out there. Beside dirt tracking.

Our local weather man for a news station here races every year out at the local 5/8th mile (bigger than bristol motor speedway) and he is SLOWER than molasses out there. AND he's been doing it for a couple years I believe and still can't stay on the lead lap within the first 10 laps or less of the race.

car racing isn't a sport, so how can it be the toughest?  might as well claim that horse racing is also a sport.

Griffey still has the sweetest swing in baseball. I think Manny Ramirez has the best swing from the right side of the plate.

Swing wise- just the swing plain and tempo of the swing...Griffey hands down, his swing has not changed in the past 20 yrs. and hes still not even 40. Injuries killed his career down the road but his swing has always been true. Ichiro you cant argue has a pure swing, he just gets on base because hes alredy half way down the line before he makes contact w/ the ball. The Mic had the best swing from both sides of the plate, but Chipper is no slack either. Lance Berkman has a good swing - he puts so much backspin on the ball from either side of the plate the ball just flys...

then why do they call horse racing 'The Sport of Kings'?  Have you ever spent time around race horses?  They are competitive as hell and they know full well that they are in a race.

Not really my bag, I look at a horse and see a 2000lbs hay burner but....

I've been to the race track and I enjoy betting on who can whip their horse in a more efficient fashion, but I meant from the point of view of the humans involved, not from the horse's point of view.

I wouldn't consider a dog fight a sport either.

How is racing not a sport? Just curious... Come on now, tell me... In baseball do they lose 25-30 pounds in one game? Just curious. It takes practice to be a good drive just at ONE track, imagine taking all that time and put it in 30+ tracks. Training is key same wiht any other sports right? Ok then.

would you quit with the weight loss thing?

I could drink 2-3 gallons of water, take a ton of stool softener, then go lay in a sauna for 3-4 hours and lose weight through all my orafaces, but that does not make:
"Loading up with water and ****ting everywhere in a sauna" a sport.

Chess/checkers/bowling/golf are not SPORTS in my own definition.

Motorsports are a 'type' of sport, but not the same as baseball or tennis etc..

I define a sport as competing DIRECTLY with an opposing team/player.

That's why I exclude golf and bowling. While both take skill and are competitive, you don't compete directly.

Buaaaahaaaahaaaaa.......that's like saying that because you turn in decent times at a local track that you could drive with the big boys.......good job Einstein

I guess bro, you do not know what Sandy Koufax is. Seach actully I did it for you http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/snohomishcountynews/2004351443_zach16n.html

That's the kind of kids that are in that league. Basically it's playing against future big league players. I could have been if I persued it more, that kid throwed HARD as a pitcher, but also hit homeruns like nothing. Heard of Travis Snider? Search him, he's in the Triple A now and he's 20 years old and went to that same high school.

Please bro just shut up if you don't know what you're talking about honestly you make yourself look stupid.

Oh and my brother DOES turn THE fastest times at the track (in his rookie year) and YES he can hang with the big boys. Like I said man, just shut up you don't have a clue. He's turning quicker times than both a 3 time track champion and another past 4 time champ in different leagues. And yea like I said he would hang with the "big boys" if we had a sponsor and money and a car to do it in.

Racing you compete against someone AND a team. Golf you compete against someone. I just honestly don't see your logic.

And you know you would get REALLY SICK if you did all that **** to lose 25 pounds, where as you're trapped in a 130 degree racing suit and car for over 3 hours, working your ass off controlling a 800 hp monster. Nice try with your logic again.

It's pretty obvious you haven't read the thread about what your father does. Mine was a professional baseball player-coach-manger for over 50 years. I grew up on a baseball field from the time I was old enough to walk.  Ummmmm.....who's looking stupid now?

You still are. You don't even know what Sandy Koufax is/was. Take the time to read the link??? Ok what I thought. I guess playing against kids that are in the farm system, and kids going to Berkley to play baseball, and pitchers throwing hard as a a major leaguer is "nothing" to brag about.

You're right I didn't hit 85 mph fastballs when I was 14 or nothing no, that's impossible. I know I can still hit off of the "best" pitcher here right now. I was on the team with that Greg Cranson guy that they mention in the article too.

"Jackson High School's Danny Oh, one of the state's most prolific hitters, has accepted an offer to play at the University of California, Berkeley next year."

You send me some article about a kid who has been accepted to play college ball and tell me I don't know "what" Sandy Koufax is. No, I don't know what Sandy Koufax is.....and still don't after reading your link and doing a google search,  but my Pop knows the major league pitcher by that name quite well and says he had the best curve ball in the Majors. Sandy showed him how he did it since Dad was a pitching coach.

Good luck to your brother. I hope he makes it. What most people (especially you) are clueless about is the profound difference between even AAA ball and the big leagues. The physical skills are similar, but the mental toughness is what makes the difference. That disregards the hall of fame skill set.....those guys really are a whole different breed.

Okay, so you played in a select little league?.. you think you have any shot at even being able to hit minor league pitching? You played when you were 14? you really think that makes you sound good? I played in an American Legion traveling team till I was 18 and played on the highschool varsity baseball team. I went to college on a baseball scholorship before blowing out my elbow, and eventually enlisting in the usmc... I can tell you for a fact I have hit 80+ mph pitching at the juco level. You have no idea how absolutely stupid you sound talking about a league... little league actually.. like that. We played teams from all over the country in tournaments on the traveling team I was on, not just the regional all stars, but national level kids. And one guy you know made it to the minor league that played in the same league? How does that even come close to justifying anything? You are trying to make it sound like everyone on the team you were playing against were that quality.. and they werent. You do realise, if you were anywhere near as good as you claim, that a MLB team would have had you under contract at that age? Its not one bit unusual for them to sign highschool kids to go into the farm teams before they graduate. I played against many people who had those type of agreements when I was in american legion.

Infact... Here, this is the stadium we played baseball in from the time I was on the 14+ team. Last year they hosted the American Legion world series.. wish it would have happened back when I was playing.

Ohh.. and I would put money on you not being able to hit a softball thrown by my g/f... she paid her way through her bachelors degree on a softball scholorship and she can chuck it harder than most guys I know. okbfd met her... she's competitive as hell. lol

And you are also comparing apples to oranges. Ive done road racing, dirt track racing, etc.. Im not that fast at it but Im middle of the pack far from the slowest out there. Being able to run good on local tracks it the eqivilent of being an all star in a local fast pitch softball/beer league. They are both sports, but car racing is not the same type of sport as baseball. Nascar does not take anywhere near the same level of hand eye coordination as baseball does, but it does take a lot of endurance skills, and techniques that you would not use in baseball.

Ohh, and okbfd, who was your dad? I think we talked about this once but I dont remember. Johnny Bench is a second cousin.. Ive only met him a couple of times though at family get togethers.. and its been a long time since I have seen him.

I say NASCAR takes more skill over any sport. Knowing what to change if the car is too tight or loose, most of you don't even and wouldn't even know what tight felt like over loose in a corner. How deep to take the corner, how much break, where to start turning, should I pass? No, what line is the fastest? What cars are slower than the other.

NONE of you would even be able to take a Sprint Cup Car to it's full potential on ANY track. Don't bad mouth a sport if you have NEVER been in one driving the car.

wow. ok... yeah the team full of experts that are helping the driver change ****, where to go what moves to make... yeah, making those left hand turns definitely takes more skill over any sport.... give me a break.

and yes, hitting a round ball with a round bat is the hardest thing to do in any sport.

and think about it.... In what other sport are you a hero, and an all star if you FAIL 70% of the time?
