hey guys, was wondering what kind of money needs to be put into our stang to compete with the nissan gtr when it comes out? i know we will probably never compete in a racetrack or a slalom, but in a straight drag, what do we need to do and how much would it cost?

In the new Road and Track mag the GT-R beat both the zo6 and 911 turbo. I think it will cost a lot to compete. Plus it has AWD which helps it launch like a monster. I think it has a 3.4 sec 0-60.

well.. since we already beat it in the looks department... (I know a lot of people like the gtr looks).. you'd probably be looking at a modaddict setup and blow it away.. at the track what times were they saying? high tens? so.. atleast building the motor+F/I andsuspension.. andmore.. but im sure you could beat it in the 1/4 with less than1/2 as much money as it would cost to own one.. but it doesseem like a great car to have..

In terms of strictly straight line, it'd be relatively easy. Expensive, but easy. The norm like suspension mods, gears, and a Whipple or Kenne Bell, along w/ DR's will do the trick. But like you already said, when it comes to the handling department, it's in a whole nother realm....
Lots of suspension mods, better than OEM tires, weight reduction, and a good single or twin turbo setup would probably compete....maybe not win, but compete.
I mean...in reality it's more than 2x the price of a loaded GT.

Ah...some guys think they came from their mothers vagina able to do H/C/I swaps. But other, lesser people like us have to learn to do things.

0-60 in 3.2-3.8 sec
475 rwhp/ 457 tq
3836 lbs. curb wt.

sawyer or modaddict would definately murder this car in the 1/4 mile.
road course would be a totally different animal.
