ya know its funny, after reading all these dual posts , I might just stay with a single and a custom exhaust once I bolt on the X charger.
(Forgive me if you're just making a joke, it's hard to read irony and sarcasm, but...)
Duals (especially X pipe) > Single when forced induction becomes involved.
You'd lose out big-time. A single just won't move the exhaust volume at a comparable rate.
If you're rolling with a supercharger or turbo of any kind, I would call dual exhaust an absolute must as an accompanying mod.
Plus the duals just look so sweet. That alone is worth it.
Im not kidding,,, maybe Ill get a big fat 3 inch cat back pipe built but the more I see every second six banger getting duals the more Id like to stick with one fat pipe.

Every second six-banger on these forums getting duals does not reflect the general population of six-banger owners.
It's a very small percentage of V6 owners in the real world who mod their cars at all, way smaller percentage than GT owners.
Getting duals might not make your V6 unique on here, but if you look around at the six-bangers when you're out in traffic, the ones with duals are few and far between.
I've seen probably around 70-80 V6's in real life and I think 3 of them have had dual exhaust. Most six-bangers aren't modded at all. Just because a lot of the V6 enthusiasts at MustangForums put duals on their cars doesn't make it a bad or not worthwhile mod, it's a good mod to stand out from the general real-life V6 population.

dont get me wrong ,, I like duals but im not so sure yet. Im just not sold on the fact that I cant make a single system to run with the X and not give up any performance.
Phunnyguy that was an excellent video! Good info. I have two questions: The H-Pipes catbacks from what I read gives you that muscle car, V8 sound, but you lose torque and mileage. How much significant loss will it be? Also, I love your Magnaflows! I'm planning on getting a TurboHouse turbo, and from what Faszm says, I have to run my original Y-Pipe and do a dual conversion there. But I want to do H-Pipe with Cervinis sideskirt/exhaust. Will that be possible?
not sure on the side cervinis and a turbo set up with an h pipe...i guess anything is possible....im betting its going to be str8 up custom work tho....and than can be pricey...i dont have the skills to do that, if you do ...then give it a shot let us know how ti turns out....as for the losing some torque i have heard that and mostly on the low end i think, most i met with an x pipe said they see little to know mileage difference, but i guess that also depends on how often you get your foot in it.....as for an h pipe and mileage i dont know
i have thought of doing an x pipe...or even an h with my flows, but im happy with where she is torque and sound plus i have to drive her every day so mileage is an issue....and yes...h pipe and x pipe i think are deeper v8 type tones if you will.....
Alright,I've done a TON of research on 4.0 exhaust systems so, here goes. There are two priorties, money, and sound quality. The more money, the better the sound. The cheapest setup; Ninosport duals ($250) and GT takeoff mufflers(50+-) total $300. Make sure you get manual trans takeoffs, part no FI-7849-R (or) L not the ones from an auto!! If you go this route, the best thing is, true bolt on, no cutting, do it in your driveway in 2 hours. It sounds pretty good. If your loaded, The best set up I've ever heard Is FRPP pipes with stingers (bassani also sounds really good too). Sounds AWSOME but a bit pricey for me. The FRPP setup requires cutting of your stock Y pipe so, best done by a shop. The only thing I don't like about the FRPP is those bumper cutout thingies, YUK.The X pipe or H pipe question? The H pipe sounds Better but, you will get some loss in low end torque (torque is where it's at!!) X pipe sounds pretty good to but, it's better for low end torque. I've been told two things about X/H pipes. If you dont have a V8 (with 2 cylinders on the same bank firing at the same time) you really dont need either. However, I've also been told a 4.0 with "true duals" (no X or H) sounds like crap. My decision, Go with an X. I've also been told that, the stock 4.0 system flows pretty good(unless you go F/I or serious mods). If you just replace the stock muffler, you get the lions share of performance and sound for the least cost. Some people are happy throwing a GT take off on a stock 4.0 system(total $30). It's cheap and sounds good. I've heard a stock system with a flowmaster american thunder (just one), and .....it sounded pretty good! If your gonna go duals (if for nothing else but "the cool factor") You need to address the "bumper situation". You need to do one of two things. Get a GT takeoff bumper with two cutouts or, cut your stock sixxer bumper. Save your cash and cut the sixxer bumper, I think it looks way better. My vote for MY CAR, Ninosport duals with a set of used Flowmaster american thunder mufflers and, cut my sixxer bumper. It's a driveway bolt on for about (I'm hoping) $375. It's about as cheap as you can get and It sounds really good. What you need to do is go to you tube and listen to ALL the clips, even the GT ones. They'll give you an idea of what certain products sound like. Remember, whatever direction you do go, we want sound clips and pictures!!! GOOD LUCK!!! Oh, I almost forgot, my exhaust system modification disclaimer. This is one of the most discussed issues on the forum. The previous information is just my opinion! But I think we all agree on one thing, ANYTHING sounds better than a stock muffler!!!
What we need is "weekly exhaust roulette". Whatever system you draw, you gotta run it for a week. The best would be like a total bassani system or some other big dollar set up. The worst would be a civic fart can on the end of 5 feet of flextube. It would keep the neighbors guessing. He he he he
2005 legend lime convertible,MAC dual ss catback,HIPO plus X-Charger,4:10 ford racing gears and t-lock,LED tail lights,gt500 spoiler,hood pins,18" deep dish rims,Pioneer D3 gps,Z front grill,duals 6000k HID lights,,and much much more ...
I have single borla cat but for a single, it sound loud as all hell. I love the way they sound. Not rice rocket or anything, mine is deep and loud but I am redoing it to a custom dual borla s-type with jba x pipe. My girlfriend would never drive with me cuz my car was so deep and loud.
