Vettes are America's Icon along with the Mustang. but if you buy a vette and cant drive it to its potential you are a total douchebag.... i say that because i beat a C5 vette a couple weeks ago. was quite a funny experience.

You people are compaining because you actually HAVE to drive a viper? Seriously who wouldn't want to DRIVE a viper? I would rather a car that takes skill and endurance and enjoyable fun to DRIVE over a vette where it's sit and it drives you (bascially). I can't believe some of you complaining about driving a car.

So you all just proved yourself hypocrits because you ALL say NASCAR is sOooooOOooOO eassssy, yet you can't handle a car that you drive on a street? Imagine losing 25 pounds in 3 hours.... ok you can't do it.

My gripe about the Viper is it is way to snug and the leg room is horrible for someone over 6ft.....I'm all for a rugged ride, providing I don't loose circulation to the bottom half of my body on a average 1-2 hour drive..

Lets clear a few things up..

The Corvette doesn't "drive you" the car requires skill to operate at a high performance level. Too much throttle here and things can get ugly quick. The Viper is more brutal and definitely has a raw feel to it but otherwise the car is pretty stable. I dare you to go take a Z06 out for a test drive thinking that the car is going to help you out when you make a foolish mistake...

Besides everything than can help you out, like the traction control and active handling can be turned off with a press of a button.

You want a raw Corvette, press the button.

i love the early 70s vettes they look killer, the ones with the chrome bumpers. i want a black rag top like chris tucker drove in rush hour ;) but they are a pain to get in and out of. the new ones are a lot more comfy id buy one of those also

Corvettes all the way, people talk about spending 70k on a car, and say its a lot, but look at the Z06. This thing is amazing, basically one of the fastest production vehicles out (and by production i do not mean bugattis, cause when is the last time you saw one on the roads). Plus when corvette releases the ZR-1 with the LS9 v-8, lets just say blowing most cars out of the water....

On a side note, how amazing would it be to have an awd, and all wheel steering corvette, or just one of the two latters? Talk about taking all that raw power and putting it not only to great preformance heights, but amazing handling heights??

i dont think the c6's and z06's are overpriced, but the new ZR1's with at least $60,000 dollar "market adjustment" charge is wayy overpriced..but i have a 2006 c6 and havent had a problem with it yet

HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHA w00t

this has to be one of the more retarded things i've read on here in a while.  where does anyone even say a word about nascar? damn you suck.  your idea behind it stems from an assumption.  nice one, skecherssportshoeboxfucker.

no one here said they wouldn't want to drive a viper, but as for buying that or a vette, i'll stick to a vette because i know there is some guy running around with a mustang II that cries foul because ALL people think nascar is so easy.  that's fantastic that you think a vette drives the driver....yeah...

no.

V-6 is for real drivers. Go buy a Jetta if you want gas mileage and a chicks car. Buy a V-8 Mustang if you have no driving ability and need the extra horsepower to compensate and feel like you''''''''re fast.

I loved our old Viper, but it was a chore to drive and the creature comforts were virtually zilch. For those who complained about Viper mileage.....depends on how you drive it. At 75mph you are only pulling about 1700rpm and getting in the 20s......or course that was "only" the 450 pony version     The Vette is certainly more comfy and the performance on the two cars is within a whisker from year to year.    They are both world class performers for far less than their Euro competitors.

BTW......that 67 427 has got to be my fave of the old school Vettes.....what a beast!

I'm going to go out on a limb here. Call me crazy if you want.

But ...

2005+ C6 (~$29,000 - ~$35,000 stock with nav and fully loaded) >>> Any stock Mustang GT. You heard it here first.

Also, for the money you're paying to buy a used 2003 / 2004 Cobra (~$22,000 - ~$30,000) I'd just assume Buy a C6.

Again, heard it here first.

I was more directing it towards the Cobra's and pointing out that with a small search you can find a '05+ C6 for the same price as a new GT.

Also figured it should be said.

the old ones are cool. like the early sting rays and some of the not so  old sting rays, but overall, vettes always come across as kinda "slutty" to me. they might perform well, but they certainly arnt the greatest. ive heard people who drove a couple of the new ones on a track complain that the suspension was a littel funny, too hard in back and too soft up front. just what i heard though

that, and i really think they need some help in the styling/design department. they always seem lacking some visual creativity or taste. the 2007 and on is getting a little better though. still hate the straight line across the top however..nessesary i guess, but ugly
