i love the z06's...c5 and c6. with a new z06 u can do h/c/i and blow away any viper on the road. or any ferrari. and possibly a ford gt. mustangs r never even a factor for the new z06's. wait a few years and the price will fall...look at the c5 z06's u can pick one up for under 30k...how many of u here have spent more than 30k on ur car + mods and still cant beat a c5 z06? especially around the twisties. the ls2 vettes with h/c/i are right at the same level as the viper, with better DD qualities, and for less $$$. IMO ls2 vette=potential for a reasonable price. IMO modded C6 Z06=super car killer. there is a vid on youtube where an f430 is chasing down a new z06 and could barely keep up. if u compare a super car like an f430 to the z06 you can conclude that for the money u save buying a z06 u could mod the hell out of it and there would be nothing that could touch u.

i was just hinking, what are all your opinions on vettes ???

i can live with the old ones (up to about '64 or '65) the new ones suck though, imo. They're way too overrated. They're overpriced and everyone i've known who ones one says they require a lot of work to keep them in good shape and that there's always something going wrong on them, they all said that they'd never own another. I can't say much for the C6's, to me, they look like damn vipers. anyway i just thought i'd get your opinions.

one of the two greatest practical sports cars ever made!!!!!!!! 2nd being 300zx

If I were to win a contest and get a $70,000 car as a prize, I would pick the corvette.   A red one!

I want to say first off I am not a "Vette guy", the attitude of many of the owners turns me off on them a bit, that said. How can you say a car that can be had for $45k is over priced/overrated? Consider the performance/dollar. You get a car that runs mid 12's on average (for the LS2 cars, low 12's for the LS3's), has WORLD class handling, gets in the mid 20's for MPG. Also lets not forget you get all that with a warrenty from GM. I don't want to hear from anyone about how they could make their Mustang a Vette killer for 1/2 the cost, that's not the point here. Think about how much  a decenty new car costs now, sticker on my Jeep was $43k (of couse I paid no where near that). The only downside to a Vette is that is only a 2 seater, but that is what makes it a true sports car, for a guy with kids like me, it's just not practical enough, but for older guys, single guys or guys with no kids, there is no other car that offers the performance/dollar. Still I don't think I would buy one, but like I said at the start, I am just not a "Vette guy", but that does not stop me from seeing the car for what it is.

Here is a link for prices. Around here $70-75k will get you a new ZO6.

It's the original American sports car, so you have to love it (I grew up around a '66 427 4-Speed Stingray). That being said, I'm not a fan of the C6. And, the Viper is just too physically demanding of a car to drive.

I would like to say I would never buy a NEW Corvette, even if I wanted to. There's a good chance I'll NEVER buy a new car just because of the ramming you take when you sell.

It would be cool to have a newer C6.

2 Seats would be neat.

Viper just isnt up to par- it delivers the same, or worse, performance of other cars in its class, with 1/3 the refinement.

Mopar.  Built like crap since 1933.

But ya gotta love the powerplants.

Not a bad lineup.  Not bad at all.

My buddy has a 2001 Coupe. Its pretty nice, and hes got Nitrous on it, so it runs good. Right after I got back my GT back from the tuner, we ran em (w/o NOS)..... and he beat my ass.... Come to find out later my discharge tube from the S/C had blown itself off at some point that night. So this weekend is gonna be the rematch. No way a 400rwhp Mustang should lose to a 320rwhp vette, but well find out lol.

not gunna lie, there are many, many cars I'd take over a c5.  The looks just don't do it for me and for some reason the styling looks very old.  Now the c6 ranks among the top on my list, with the c6 z06 being at the top.  Thus concluding

c6 yea
c5 nea

I think the Corvette and Mustang will be the last two American muscle cars to die.

the mustang and corvette will never die....they might eventually be bastardized into turbo 4 bangers or electric cars....but they will never die
