so my friend got an 08 V6 a couple of months ago. about 2 weeks in she got scraped on the drivers side rear while at school. damage isn't too bad but there was some paint missing. a minor touch up if anything.
well she messages me today to tell me she was hit again. mind you, this is while she's parked on campus. i'm figuring $500+ before she's even batted an eye to get this fixed.
i assume you are referring to a highschool campus...most of those kids arent used to parking vehicles in smaller spaces such as at a school where the school shrinks the size of spaces up to make more room for cars so they can charge $25/space...more money for them.
i know back in the day when i was in highschool, there were lots of kids in big trucks (grew up in the hill country) and they always sideswiped little cars cause there just wasnt enough room to swing their vehicles
by the way league city man, you arent very far from me at all. you ever make it down to baytown?

mac, this is a university campus. it's sam houston state up in huntsville.
basically what they've done is added a ton of new buildings to get more students there but built them on exisiting parking lots. therefore, parking is atrocious.
i do go to baytown every once in a while. it's not that far from me at all.

She needs to ask campus safety or anyone in charge of any security and ask them if they have Cameras. if they do.. park next to them next time. =( it sucks for sure

The discoloration can be buffed, the dent can be pulled. It will probably cost around $250 by a reputable shop without the need to repaint. Just remove the paint transfer before you take it in or they will rape you on the cleaning.
It's not that people don't care anymore..they've never cared. School lots are the worst. Youngest group of drivers, inexperienced, irresponsible, etc, etc. I stay FAR away from any school when I park.

I'm glad I had a good highschool that everyone knew not to mess with people's rides. I think the whole four years while I was there only 2 or 3 cars got messed with and they were already dumps. Now that I'm at college it's the same thing. I guess it's just the area that I live in, I'm not sure. Whatever it is, I'm thankful.

I think the disrespect for others property stems from the parents of the individual. I would bet a paycheck that the person that did this has a car that mommy & daddy bought for them. To them it means nothing bacause they have no sweat equity in it! When people start paying 20,000 plus for a car themselves they tend to be a bit more careful! of their own car & others!

That cannot be pulled, its creased!! Will need prep and paint for sure! BUMMER!!

I had this happen to my firebird a few years ago. It was parked in the parkinglot of my dorm. One day I went to get in my car and saw a big ass foot and a half sized dent on my passengers side fender. It was pretty high up too, so it was obviously some dumbass kid with a truck way too big for them.
I just filed a police report and my insurance took care of it.
My brother's Cherokee has been hit twice this year on the same campus too, but the deductible is so high on it, and it's kinda beaten up anyways, so he hasn't gotten it fixed. Still filed police reports though.
So because of all this, I haven't even brought my new Mustang up to school. It's sitting in my parents garage nice and safe till I graduate in a couple weeks.
I try hard to find a parking space away from the masses. Or a least in a spot where cars can only park on one side of my car.
There are a lot of drivers out there who don't really care about their own car, so they sure as heck aren't going to care about yours.
And it isn't just young drivers in campus parking lots. I gave up parking in certain locations at the school where I taught, cause most of my fellow teachers were terrible at parking.
