I just got the Paxton HO installed on my 05 Gt and was wondering if I should add the MSD COP's to prevent spark blow-out? I know our stock system is pretty good but I wonder if these would be that much better for the $$.

According to most the stock Coils are good for well over 600RWHP. If you are running the HT0 plugs gapped correct you shouldnt have any blow out issues.

I had spark blowout at 10 PSI even with the HT0 gapped down so dont believe that for one minute. I have run OEM COPs, MSD COPs and Granatelli COPs to address this. Granatelli COPs are the best of the three I have run. I have them on now but i also have a set of MSD COPs I can run. Either aftermarket COP relieved the spark blow-out completely but the performance was best on the GMS COps.

Can you feel spark blow out? What's the symptoms?

Very interested to see how that goes. For me to lay out $500 for them though they would have to make like at least 15rwhp, as that money can go toward alot of different things. I doubt it, but would love to be proved wrong.
Thanks,

Well I went ahead and bought the Summit Racing COPS. For the price I figured I would give them a try. The install is very easy, 15min tops, trying to finish before the wife sees more new parts .The position of the connectors are a little diffrent but no issue. I also went ahead and took off the Summit stickers from each COP, I dont like stickers under the hood. Right away I could tell there was an improvement. The car started much quicker than normal, less turns by the starter. Next I noticed the idle quality was much better. After the Paxton install I noticed the idle was a little rougher and lower than stock. I thought is was the nature of the tune but after the new COP's it is way smoother and more like stock. Driving today to work I noticed the throttle response was much smoother from a start and during highway cruising. But coming home from work is what tells the tale. I pulled up on a sleeper in the passing lane about 55 mph that wouldnt move over. I guess he thought because he was driving a late model TA he didnt have to. Well I pull to the slow lane to go around, I'm running late for my little girls softball game, and he decides to accelerate. Being in the hurry I'm in and not to dissappoint the TA I kick her down is passing gear. Before the COP's there would be a very slight hesitation before you would take off. Not now, before I knew it I was rolling past 100 mph and the TA looked like he had put on the brakes! All I can say is the acceleration is unbelievable. I never thought that the COP's would do this much. They may not produce 50 hp on the Dyno, but the improved response and acceleration is outstanding. This is one of those MOD's that may not show alot of a peak HP gain but makes up for it in the whole rev range with the improved response. It may not be the best mod for a n/a car but after what I have found out I was missing I wouldnt run a FI car without them.

I don't have them, Modaddict doesn't have them(we have the stockers). Waste-O-money IMO
How can you not get spark blow out at your psi level? If you gap the plugs any further wouldn't you have other problems at idle, cruise, etc?

What are your running your plug gap at on F/I applications?
Not 100% sure, they were pre-gapped by Brenspeed in the kit. I called and got the gap from Bret so I could check them before the install but I just dont remeber. I will look thru some notes and see if I have it. For all the people that say no, I know there is an improvement. It may not be great #'s but the smoothness and the responsivness is well worth the $269.00 I paid. Dont knock it until you try it.

I originally had Granatelli's old design. There was a marked improvement on start-up and definitely smoother revs. However, I had multiple failures with their old design and ultimately gave up on them. I installed their new design today (yes, I'm giving the new design a shot) and I will post a full review of them tomorrow night.
