9mm is a good round for the most part, the problem is during winter months in colder climates where intruders may be wearing several layers of heavy clothing, depending on where you hit them it may not penetrate enough to put them completely down on the first shot.

It's all about the type of bullet.......frangible bullets aren't worth a crap on hard bone.....and she must have one heck of a hard head

^^got lucky with a faulty round...

if my BB gun can put a hole thru a hogs head at 40yds away theres no way in HELL that her head can withstand the impact of a .44 round from 10 yards away.

I don't remember anything about this being a physical law. In fact, if I remember correctly from theoretical physics, even had the bullet not even contacted her skull, but actually jumped through space and time, to the other side of her skull, without touching a thing, is possible. Albiet it would take until the end of the universe for this to have a good chance in our experience to happen at this great of a magnitude, but bottom line is it didn't violate any physics, quantum, relativity, nothing.

It did however, violate intuition, but that's all, nothing else.

That was actually the problem we had with the M1 Carbine in Korea that had been used in WWII. When the Korean winter hit and the Commies were wearing thick clothing layers because of the horribly low temps, US soldiers found that the carbine round(basically a high power 7.8mm pistol round) didn't always penetrate through the clothing. That has to be such a horrible feeling, being in combat and firing your gun, only to realise it's like shooting spit wads.

If he was hanging out of the sunroof, then chances are he wasn't steady. A lot of the bullets energy could have been absorbed by his lack of posture.

Some of you guys have some dumb theories. The bullet most likely hit the car first or even if it didn't the angle of your head can deflect bullets.

The guy that said a 9mm may not penetrate multiple clothing is crazy. The 9mm has more penetrating power than the 45. The smaller size of the bullet lets it penetrate deeper but doesn't cause as much damage. The 9 tends to go through and even break bone and keep going. the 45 is a larger round that tends to drag tissue with it b/c it is larger cal. and is fired at less feet per second than the 9mm.

I wonder what the real story is. Was this a totally random act and it was just their bad luck to run into a pack of murderous assholes?

Also, just a random thought that popped into my head. Might be total horseshit.

They were traveling down the road being harassed by these ass-wipes, so what if the people people in the victims car started taking video with their cell phones and made it obvious to the perps that they were being recorded. Might have diffused the situation and caused them to scatter.
People act different when they know/think they are on camera than they would otherwise.
