Default sending unit cable?

does anyone know how to get the cable that measures the fuel level in the sending unit off? the new tank i have came with a new sending unit and i plan to use that one, i just dont want to ruin the cable.

1/8 turn just to break it loose then pull straight back on the plug. It's a friction fit coupling. On the sending unit it looks like a tiny threaded male stud, only they aren't threads, they're just ringlets to hold the female wire end on. As the plug comes off,it will sound the same as running your finger down the edge of a comb.
