after some intensive online research on the best cam under 1k, i was about to get the canon hv20 when i found out there was a newer model, the hv30. best buy had it for the cheapest, so i went and picked it up.

its a slick little thing. with emphasis on little.
when i bought it, i was about ready to tell best buy that i really wasnt interested in their warranty, they mentioned a new addition to it that included accidental breakage, if i break it in any way whatsoever, i can just take it back and be covered under warranty for 4 years. not too shabby for 160 bucks. that was yesterday when i got it, then last night a freak accident happened where my girlfriend ended up spilling some milk on it. turned it on this morning and the ****er didnt work.....so off i went to get a replacement.

my previous was a sony trv608....brand new in i think 98¿
had to stop using it because when i got a new computer, the program wouldnt copy over/work right(****ing windows....), plus the quality was somewhat lacking(as you can see from the last video i made) so i decided to get something technologically up to date that would float me for another 10 years

ugh you cant post a youtube vid and try to tell us THATS how its going to look

youtube needs to upgrade to HD

already took a quick test clip of my own, and i gotta say, it is damn impressive. now i get to learn the ropes of video editing. give a motivated pothead a camera and they make things happen!

Hmm, i woulda went with the sony hdr sr7. Takes phenominal quality videos, awsome touch screen BRIGHT display, extremely good lense.. And a surprisingly long battery life. It also has a 60gig hdd, which holds hundreds of minutes of full HD footage, andthousands of SD minutes. The compression it uses is crazy.

you can get it for a little hunder a thousand bucks.

oh and the stills it takes, awsome quality. 6.1mp

What codec does the canon shoot with? the sony uses avchd.

pinnacle studio is an awsome easy to use and cheapish editing program for the windows.

actually, i was almost set on getting some kind of hdd cam before i came across a lot of people talking about how the avchd format isnt the most edit friendly.
mine is a mini dv. one of the big things they touted about this model is its ability to shoot 30 fps.
