Metco Lower Pulley Questions - 4/22/2008 8:36:28 AM

I had a metco 4# lower installed in my cobra recently and I believe it's making a squeaking sound.
On top of that it wiggles a little as its moving. None of my other pulleys move one bit but this one has a little wiggle to it as it spins. Is that normal for the bearings or is it not tight enough?
Also could that be causing the squeak?
Any info would be appreciated.

my lower never wiggled at all.  it was tight and straight. that could be your problem.

That pulley should not wiggle.  It also doesn't have bearings, it is bolted directly to the crank with 4 hex head bolts.

You should check 2 things:

1. Check that all 4 bolts used to attached the body of the Metco pulley system to the crank are all tight.

2. The outer ring of your Metco system is removable.  It is attached with about 8 bolts.  Make sure all of these bolts are tight.

The outer ring might be bent, but I highly doubt it.  The sqeal you hear might be a bad idler pulley bearing but not your lower crank pulley.  Hope this helps.

Is the metco lower pulley worth it?  Also, does it come with a different tensioner?
