So being in college and still trying to figure out what i want to do i thought i would explore this option.

My buddy is a Ford mechanic and he was at this random car show and a mustang performance shop offered him a job at right around $60,000 a year for installing superchargers and stuff like that on 05+ cars! He basicly gets to work on GT500s and stuff all day for awesome money [&o]

But anyways i know that is an uncommon thing and he is just a lucky bastard but that made me wonder how many oppurtunities are really in being a mechanic.

I always had the mindset that mechanics cannot expect much more than 30-40k a year...

But for all you Ford mechanics... Is there any potential in the job for making awesome money or do you even enjoy it?

ive been working for ford for about 2 years, before that imanaged an independent shop for 4 topped out at $30k there. i make between $35-40k right now. but the guys who have finished there master training are making$8-$9more per hour. im on my way to that. it all depends on the area and volume of customers when ur on the flat rate pay system. i do enjoy my job. although it sounds like your buddy just got a dream job. hope this helps:D
