Hi, Jazzer said i should post this question here as i posted it 1st in the tire section. Edited a bit also.
I have an 03 Cobra and i was gunna get the 18inch Detroit Wheels 03 Cobra rims. My car has 1.0f and 1.5r lowering springs. I'm trying to trouble shoot b4 i pay for these new wheels.
Questions; are my stock 17s 17x9 in front and 17x10.5 rear?
if the back wheels im buying are 18x9 would that be a huge difference between the 18x10.5? i ask this because the 18x10.5 are like 80bucks more per wheel.
What tires are good for me? i was thinking of getting drag radials in the back. Tire size and what not opinions also.
My car dyno'd at 500 rwhp but with the stock 17's and nitto drag raidials hook up pretty good, they are 295's.
Anyone have any pics of the 18inch cobra wheels on a 03? ALso anyone know if afs makes the chrome 18x9 and 18x10.5?
I dont believe your stocks are 17x10.5 and I have never seen 18x10.5 On the other hand, I didnt think you could put 295s on a 9 inch wheel either so I guess I might be mistaken. If you dyno at 500rwhp then i'd go with nothing less than drag radials. Hopefully someone else can shed some light on this
03 cobras have 17x9 front and rear, with 275-40-17 stock. i also believe that the stock rims can hold 295s. anything bigger than 295s will give you problems if you still have the irs.

i put on 18" 10.5 ruff racing chrome rims......i had to run a spacer....so i dont drive fast when they are on cause its dangerous...
i didnt lower it, but the stock tires are thick.....i had 17" stock then i put on 18" but they are low profile so it evened out.......
keep you receipt and make sure you can turn them in if they are wrong.....i did ebay and got f'd so thats also why i ran a spacer on back
i dont know much about tires but i had KUMO's put on......I need slicks on this moster....but i use it as a daily driver....i know its a collector car but i say what the hell, cruise in style and power every day
another question do they make a staggered and bigger set of wheels that are in the 10th aniverssary edition. and if at all possible, it'd be sick if they had the 10th aniv. cobra wheels somewhere in chrome :)

I am curious why you say this.
I am running 1/2" spacers on my 10.5"s and have no issues and corner VERY hard, but don't extremely rarely do I hit tripple digits on my odo. I will say that installing 1/2" or more spacer really requires longer lug-bolts, which I have done.
I ran the spacer without extending the thread.....ive only heard stories about tires breaking off...they may just be stories....so i am not totally qualified to say its dangerous i am just repeating other peeps....
as for any type of rims in the 10th anniverary i am not familiar with that at all....my tires are staggered......9.5 front 10.5 rear

OK, robby, I figured you were referring to the lug-bolt length. With the spacer, I would have had less than 1/2" of thread in lug.... EEEEEK!!!! I got some Moroso extra-strength bolts, installed them and cut off the "thread-starter" portion. I now have nearly 1 1/4" of thread inside each rear lug, and completely comfortable as I corner EXTREMELY hard on my GR-40 suspension
The Jazzer
PS. Can anyone show me/us EXACTLY where the IRS bolt meets/hits the wheel/tire as I am curious if the 18" rim, being larger around, may clear this bolt?

Don't give up, gamer! If robbylozzi's car is an '03/'04, you are set. He runs a set of 9"s and 10.5"s so just install some spacers, longer lug-bolts and you are set. You can have the lugs installed by a shop if you cannot do it yourself.
10.5"s are the way to go
And after I widen my wheels, like Spinal Tap, MY set goes to 11"
