I've been drooling over all the Whipple Blowers that have been installed and finally got the chance to get mine. It was installed and tuned by Adam @ ST Motorsports and I couldn't be happier. Since my car is a DD, for now, and has the stock bottom end Adam tuned it to be conservative and more importantly reliable. My numbers are 454rwhp/413tq. Wow what a difference it makes. It's like I have a completely different car now. It's only been three days and I think it's gonna take some time to wipe the smile off my face. I do plan on going forged eventually and upping the HP levels. But right now I am content, that probably won't last long though. Next purchases are going to be gauges, tensioner and oil/air separator.
Here are a couple pics including a bad pic of the dyno graph and a quick vid of one of the dyno pulls (but nothing fancy). Hope you like 'em
I'm not sure that the price I got could be advertised, never asked to be honest. I'll find out. Like a dope I asked everything, timing, A/F, everything but the boost #. I need to call Adam and SCT today anyway (my X-Cal was causing issues and deleting the PCM all day, need to verify exactly any error codes or whatever before I call SCT).
zoso429 - If I lived near ST, my car would be crazy, and my credit would be maxed. Unfortuneatly I live on the other coast. If I win the lotto might be worth the drive for some work. Congrats again.
Believe me, ST hasn't seen the last of my paychecks. It's hard not going right back and asking for more. This patience stuff is teh suck. Right now I am compiling what I need to keep it reliable before I go forged.
crazystylin I called ST, and they asked that you call them. Of course the blower is the biggest part. The install was a little more, by a couple hundred than other shops but man was it worth every single penny.
nineinchnail1024 I thought I was running 8 for some reason, but confirmed that I am indeed running 10psi.
Hopefully I can post some pics from Irwindale soon !!!
454rwhp on a consevative tune is not even beginning to touch the max potential of the stock internals....with conservative tunes, you can push almost 500rwhp...some cars push even more than that.
One of our Whippled GT's has been at 519rwhp since it had 300 miles...it now has over 25000 without a single problem and it gets driven hard everyday and in every way! It is all in the tune with those power levels, Whipple custom tuned ours....and as most people know, Adam is a knowledgable tuner.
I finally talked to Adam today......and pretty much just lined up a fully built 298ci stroker with massaged heads and ARH LT's. I can't wait. He figures 520rwhp on 91 octane no problem, and 620rwhp on 100 octane. Looks like I need a new rear end!!

I don't get it? I figured the reason it only had 454 (only? haha) is that it was a conservative tune. You're saying there are conservative tunes and agressive tunes for the same HP level? I figured it was just the hp that couldnt go past a certain point. How can you have a 519hp conservative tune and a 475hp agressive tune both with the same blower?

Vista - Lots of variables there from motor to motor, but I gaurantee 519rwhp is not with a 10psi pulley. My assumption is that is at least a 12psi pulley.
475rwhp is seen alot with the Whipple HO at 10psi with an aggesive dyno tune. Most people pull it back and run a little rich to be safe. That is what puts you around 450rwhp.
I am of the opinion that rwhp numbers arent the limiting factor for the motor. I think whatever power you can make at 10psi is the "safe" limit, ie after that you are playing with fire, will you get burned maybe, maybe not but the probability increases.
My example is that if you are running 455rwhp with a bone stock manual trans stang with a Whipple HO and put on full exhaust and get to 480rwhp, you are at no more danger than you were at 455.
Same car and you get an aggresive tune and get 480 that is riskier, or put an 12psi pulley and get 500 that is more risky still. I hope that makes sense.
In the end if you want FI and plan to live in the 450-500rwhp range you should plan to potentially break a rod.
