You don't have enough power, that Type-R takes 1,500 watts man, your going to blow it without having enough power going to it.

Hook it up to the negative and postive where you connect the battery, that is really where the Type R shines....

It will bang with DC power!!!

being a dual voice coil, and assuming they are 4 ohm coils, you will want to wire them in parallel to get a 2 ohm load and get the most out of the amp.

it is the easiest of the wiring types.  Connect all the +'s together, and then connect all the -'s together.  If you do a search for parallel 4 ohm DVC sub wiring I bet you can find a pic to help you put it together.

You can blow a speaker with too much power or too little.  When an amp reaches its max, the top portion of the signal is clipped off and makes a flat line which is the same as direct current for a speaker.  Nothing is worse for a speaker then DC for a speaker as it causes the speaker to drive to its furthest limit, and then hold it.  This is the same holding your car at 6k rmps in nuetral.  The secret is to keep the signal clean and unclipped.  This is not too hard as all you have to do is keep the signal from distorting which is normally done when the volume is up.

you can blow ANY speaker with ANY amp.  As long as you keep the sound clean and undistorted/unclipped you will be fine.

exactly.

As for the cross over in the amp, it should be set at low pass(LP) and you can adjust the frequ to what sounds the best.  A higher setting will alow higher frequencies to get to the sub and that can be good or bad depending on your musical tastes.
