Default New member - question

Hey, I just signed up. Been coming to read the posts a lot, but I joined because I had some questions. I have a '00 3.8stick-shiftthat I've had for a couple months. I was hoping someone could tell me the best way to take off (ie drag race) from a stop. I've been looking around reading other posts but just wanted a direct answer. I know you should rev to about 2500-3000 then 'dump' the clutch - i dunno what that means - and others say to 'feather' the clutch and gas - not sure 'bout that either. There's a punk who has some v6 mitsubishi always trash talking my car and I just want to be able to beat him. I'd know how to do this in an auto, but sticks are kinda new to me, any help would be great....

Can't help with the launch RPM, that car/tire specific. Do like the other posts say, start at say 1500 and work from there.

Dumping the clutch is simple...rev the car and just slide your foot off the clutch pedal in a single quick motion.Spin & Go.

Feathering is when you use the clutch to control the power to the wheels, you let the clutch out in a slower controlled fashion as to prevent/limit tire spin. Basically you're letting it out as you accelerate thru first. This is great for higher power cars with traction issues, but gets expensive after time as you prematurely wear the clutchout.

Thanks so much for the reply. Now I'm just wondering how much dumping the clutch will affect the wear of the transmission.
