i always used liquid nails as a glue and then drilled/countersunk holes and used drywall screws to hold everything together.... then an extra "caulking" of liquid nails inside the box on any seam just to be sure it was sealed. 3/4" MDF for wood, and separated each speaker into its own enclosure.

Thanks for the tips about the box building

As for the fans, for nine.1, im going to have two 80mm fans mounted on the back of the box, with a air duct running to one side of the concave, and another air duct running out of the other side of the concave out to the back of the box. This way, ill have constant airflow running over the amp. I will also look for a small digital thermoter that i will stick in the corner or somwhere conspicioous so that i will be able to monitor the temperate.

I will then mount one 15in red cold cathode tube on the top of the amp, and one on the bottom of the amp. I will run the wiring through one of the air ducts and out the back of the box, and i will tap into a 12v power source. I will run a toggle switch on the top of the box to control the on/off function of the lights, and another button to control whether it will be solid or sound activated.

The same will be done for the amp that will be mounted flush with the floor, except with 12in long cathode tubes. I will run the wiring underneath the box and up the back to mount the toggle switch on the top of the box right next to each other.

I will also run a length of El Wire cut to length around each of the subs. El Wire is a 2.3mm thick "wire" that glows red when you run it to a power source. You can cut it any length you want. So, each sub will have a thin red circle around it, which should look real nice at night.

And this leaves me to the crossovers. How hot do crossovers get? Im assuming not so much since there enclosed in plastic already, therefore me putting a peice of plexiglass overtop of them wont cause them to overheat. For the crossovers, i would like to get some red "lazer" led's that "dance" and mount them parallel to the box so it glows.

Now i just need time to get all this done

Oh, and I decided on two Elemental Deisngs 13Ov.2's with a nine.1 to power them, the DLS MS6A Comp's with a nine.2 to power them. This will all be coupled together by a pioneer p6900UB

Crossovers will develop no heat causing issues at all.

Not sure how this is all going to look with so many neons. But if you really want to do lighting, please please please, do it tastefully, you have a system plan going that I really am dying to see the final product and I would hate to see it get dragged down because of some lighting.

K well, got the lights today, went out and bought a sheet of 5/8in MDF for 19.97, had it cut into 4 peices, and will be drawing out my box tomorow. Who knows when ill be able to assemble it I'm SO busy... Senior year of high school FTL

Got senior trip this thursday to disneyworld, come back tuesday... Probably will build it after that

But, i got a little bit done today. Ran the power cable from the battery through the car under the carpet into the trunk, Ran one set of RCA's down the other side of the car into the trunk, and realized.. i need another set of RCA's. lol so ill have to wait till tomorow to finish the wriring. Also ran the remote turn on wire, but.. I cant seem where to plug the remote turn on into the HU. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Pioneer p6900UB. Also, will i be able to split the remote turn on for two amps?

Also another question...

The nine.1 is 1200@1ohm. Do i want to wire my subs in a series to drop the impedance to 1ohm? There the Dual voice coil 4ohm subs. Or do i want 900@2ohm?

1ohm cause with box rise amp will see a higher load which will lower the power the amp is producing and at 2ohm ull lose just as much power but even more since u already wired it at 2ohm.

2 DVC drivers with Voice Coils in Parallel / Parallel
Connecting the voice coils of each driver in parallel (+ to +, - to -) and the drivers themselves in parallel (+ to +, etc.) will result in the following impedances:
Dual-6 Ohm Subwoofers: 1.5 Ohms
Dual-4 Ohm Subwoofers: 1 Ohm
Dual-2 Ohm Subwoofers: 0.5 OhmDual-1.5 Ohm Subwoofer: 0.38 Ohms

that should help ya out.

I used to think the same thing until I have seen the coil in x-overs get hot enough to melt a plastic case and cause failure more then once.  If you look at a well made x-over it will have some kind of vents or heat sink to cool it.  I am fairly sure that the guy had been doing more then just blaring it but to say the run cool is simply no the case.  When possible you will want to mount them where they can get some air and of course you want to keep the clear of water.  I say this because I have seen alot of poeple throw the x-overs in the bottom of the doors not knowing that the inside of the door does get wet.  I have also seen them fail when they wrapped them in a plastic bag to keep them dry.

I too warn you to not add too much lighting, and I love lights and gadgets as much as the next guy...  A big warning about the electroluminescent wire is that the power supply is an inverter that converts the 12Vdc into a high freq ac signal.  They will often make a high pitch noise that can be easily heard through panels, the high freq AC can be a nightmare noise problem, and the wire has a reletivly short expected life since the wire and inverter just does not last long in extreme conditions.  The inverters develope heat so do not keep them on for extended times.

thanks disturbed

@ttocs. The only lights i have are 4 cold cathode tubes, two of each in each amp compartment. And then i have thin El Wire that im going to see how it looks wrapped around the sub...

Thanks for the heads up about the inverter, ill have to see if it interferes with the sound.

Oh and can anyone answer my question about the remote wire? Actually, i think i know where it is.. I have to find a wiring diagram somewhere,

if you dont have or cant figure out the remote turn on wire you can use the power antenna wire coming outta the radio (blue IIRC but its been awhile) - thats what we always used before cd players actually came with a 12v amp remote output wire

power antenna wire works great as long as you want power when the radio is on and not the cd payer.

Well, iv been redicioulsy busy. Turns out my cameras broken as well...

Just got back from senior trip to disneyworld, which was friggin awsome. Got home, slept 19 hours straight. lol

Well.. havnt had time at all to start building the box, but i did have time to start installing the speakers. The 6.5's were a little too deep for my door, so i had to drill my own mounting holes and have them stick out ever so slightly and push the door panel out so slightly, but it looks fine. Also, for ease i rigged up a mounting system for the tweeters in the 3.5 dash spots that worked out quite nicley. Then i very slopply (for now) wired up the entire system to play it, attached the positive and negative, and BAM! I have sound :) Amazing sound, actually... Damn so they sound good. Im sure with tweaking it will be much better. I now have one question...

I have to turn my volume on my p6900ub up to 50+ to get what was at 20 before, why such a large jump in volume change?

My only problem now is i need to find a crimp tool large enough for a 4gauge wire instead of having someone hold the positive to the battery ;) lol

also, what should i tweak on the crossovers/amp if anything for the comps? thanks

Source volume, RCA Preout levels... Pioneers go up to like 80 don't they, and now you are running RCA outputs instead of the speaker wire outputs, you probably have alot cleaner signal but you have to turn it up more to hear it now. but you could check those options also.

Thanks, ill look into that. Also i notice some distortion when i get around 60+, but its not terribly loud. It sounds like bass distortion. When i install the subwoofers, should i cut off all bass to the comps?

This is how i have it wired up right now, correct me if im wrong.
