if your looking for a starter kit go to best buy they usually have good deals, the sony x-plods are decent especially for the price.
Never come to this section of MF-COM and post Your advice again.
EVER.
i did say a starter kit, if you hav'nt ever had a subwoofer system in your car before, it is a good place to start and once you learn how everything works then you buy the expensive stuff.
and i think this forum is about helping people, not criticizing eveything someone says

It is not a good starter kit.
You are incorrect with that terrible assumption.
You do not go buy expensive stuff when You learn how 'everything' works.
You buy the cheaper lesser knownn companies' products.
Not trying to criticize you or anything, but i think when it comes to audio there is no "starter kit" . You buy what fits your budget and you achieve performance accordingly. A $1500 sound system would be, by your theory, a "starter kit" to a $5000 audio system.
For what best buy sells for their prices, you could by much higher end equipment for the same price, or cheaper.
Thanks seight. Ill mount them in the doors with the comps.

thats what i meant you can buy a cheap "kit" that bestbuy sales for about 300.00 that comes with a box, 2 subs, and an amp. just saying if you where looking for somthing cheap.
Cmon now hiss u know that for that 350$ nine1 he could have gotten 3 of those powerful 1200watt sony amps. So thats like 1200rms for the nine and like 3600 from the sonys at the same price comon hiss jump on this boat for me!
Matt sounds nice.

So... you bought two 12" 600w 4ohm subs 1000w peak power and a 1200w amp for about 400.00, sounds like a good deal. the amps a little overkill though, but i would probably have done the same thing. i've never heard those subs before how do they sound?

codman i dont even know what to say about your logic but please please dont give that kinda advice to anyone.
Looks like he is running ed.
has anyone actually heard the sony subs before? and like i was saying they sound descent not the best by no means. and they where having a sale on them 2 12" 500w 4ohm 1000w peak power subs, an amp i think it was 800w, with a box. for 400.00 - 500.00.
a sheet of mdf board here is 30.00, carpet is about 10.00 a yard, and the glue is like 8.00 a can. so the box is going to run about 100.00 if you do it yourself. it will take about 3-4 hours to get everthing cut and put together w/pre-drilled holes, wood glue and sealing off the box with silicon, plus about another hour to carpet the box. and an hour to clean up your mess. basically a full days work not including going and picking everything up which will most likely take a couple of hours, and fuel costs.
so how does my logic sound now... your saving time and money
for everything with a box thats a damn good deal and if you've never had a system before that would be a good place to start.

What does the wattage matter exactly?
hiss, shut up please, im tired of hearing your stupid remarks.
codman those subs were built for that amp. Also no amp is overkill u must like riding around clipping the sh** out of your subs. The more power the better u can have a 3000watt amp on a 150watt sub and last for years. Its all about having a clean signal.
And on your logic i still dont get it maybe its over my head but who likes to drop 500$ on crap that ull want to replace in 2 months???

i have 2 12" 2200w lanzar optidrive subs with a 2000w lanzar amp pushing both of them without any problems theres no "clipping" sounds at all at 1ohm. before this i had 2 10" 1200w lanzar heritage subs with a 800w lanzar heritage amp pushing both of them and there was no "clipping" sound at 2ohms.
im pushing the shiit out of the subs i have now and they've been running clean for the past year no problems at all. getting an amp that is bigger then you need is a good thing especially if you do plan on upgrading in the future, but i dont so my 2000w amp is working great.
and like i said before if you've never had a sub system before its better to buy somthing cheap so you don't waste all of your money and not like what you get. so start with somthing small (sony) and then get somthing more advanced (lanzar) and then go from there. and you can sell your old set-up and get atleast half what you payed and put it toward the new system.
its about saving money...
and again have you actually heard the sony subs in person, or are you just blowing this out your asss?
Power handling is mostly dependant on the enclosure.
Take your time and ask as many questions as you want, you want that enclosure to be the best it can be to get everything out of those 13o's as you can.
Real quick, you don't need to, but I suggest asking them to upgrade the amp to the NINe.2X, you'll have some extra head room, and plus if you ever go to use it for something else, your ready to go. You can power an average pair of 10 or even 12's with one of those if you like. It's like $20 more I believe and well worth it considering your getting an extra 100 watts per channel.
go to best buy they usually have good deals, the sony x-plods are decent especially for the price.
Sorry but that was a very poor suggestion.

30+10+8=$100?
My monster 5.5 cube box only took 2.5 yards of carpet, you don't need 7 yards for a box.

You did order all that? Cool, you building your own enclosure or? You get/build that enclosure right, you should be very pleased with your new system.
Decide on a comp set and are you getting that now/soon or the funds part going to take a little time?
my box took about 3 yards of carpet = 30.00 3 cans of glue= 24.00 mdf wood = 30.00 TOTAL = 84.00 TAX = 6.93 GRAND TOTAL = 90.93 I THINK THATS ABOUT 100.00 DOLLARS, RIGHT...
have you heard the subs in person before? THEY SOUND DESCENT!!! NOT THE BEST, JUST A SUGGESTION
