the factory size is 6x8. has anyone been able to replace the 6x8 with a 6.5 round without too much trouble? Im not looking to cut the door or door panel to pieces
You can add a 6.5 or even a set of components..you need to find an adaptor plate....some car audio stores carry them..small shops, not big box stores. basically its a piece of plastic that fits the 6x8 size hole and has the hole for the 6.5 in it. I'm gonna change out my kicker 6x8s with some components soon.

i know about the adapter plates. I was wondering if anyone on here has used the adapters...and if so,is there any clearance problems with putting the door panel back on ar any other problems
never seen any fancy plastic kind.......... I have always made mine out of 1/2 mdf, and never had an issue with clearance. It is not too hard to make if you are comfortable with a router and have the speakers or grills that you are using. I cover the mdf in my trucks little traveled page.
I took them a step farther and made enclosures for them and I really happy with the difference they made. The enclosures are on my mustangs page. If you don't know how I can maybe ship a set out.........
well by what you have told us so far your door is EXACTLY the same as mine. Now if you were to suddenly tell me that your car is not a 94 like mine then I will have to take back that statement......
mustangs doors are deep enough from most speakers, and in my case the speaker and the enclosure. I show pics of it at my cardomain page. I have done it to more then a few SN body style, never had a problem....
no,i have no idea what my door is like compared to yours. I guess the best way to do this is to get the door panel off and do some investigating :) Now just figure out how to get the panel off. Thanks for the help
