I put an offroad x-pipe on my 07 roush stage 1, and its way too loud, i still have the stock roush mufflers and tips. but i want to put a new muffler that can "contain" some of the raspy noise that the o/r x-pipe created.
It seems like the roush mufflers are not made for holding back that kind of sound and that something like flowmaster would contain it and make it sound clean and loud.
but here is where i run into problems, i cant put a flowmaster axel-back on because it has chrome tips already on the ends(on roush exhasut it has cast tips that fit into the bumber)
Question: So how can i get a flowmaster axel-back muffler or something like it on my roush while keeping the tips the same? side question is there something i can do to make the exhaust not sound so loud, its pretty obnoxios

I'm with you..... i have the off road bassani x on my saleen... and it's way to raspy i was thinking about flowmaster.... but it will have to be a custom job to keep the stock look..... i may go with bassani mufflers.... none the less ..you will need some custom work done aswell

Look at a Flowmaster catalog and get the mufflers that have the in/out size, configuration and sound you want (not an axelback kit - just the mufflers), then have a shop put them on if there's cutting/welding to be done to make it work with your tips.
I'm thinking high-flow cats would be another way to make it sound less obnoxious.
I just put an off road H pipe on my car with the Saleen cat back and it sounds great. I've always thought chambered mufflers sound better with H pipes. I had an o/r x on my 03 GT with flowmaster catback and it sounded horrible. I changed to and H and it sounded way better.

Going from the stock Roush/Magnaflow to the Flowmaster isn't going to help your sound at all. Either look at putting the stock mid pipe back on or find some stock GT mufflers and have the Roush tips welded onto them.
well in that case, can i take my stock H pipe and cut the H out of it and replace the X on my O/R Xpipe? will it sound better, or do i have to go with a whole new setup (like an entirely new o/r H-pipe)?
lets keep this thread going for A1SALEEN

Yeah im with LilRoush, you could get an X or H pipe and then fit the Roush tips, they say X or H pipes make the sound louder you wont need to change the tips right?

Just replace the mufflers that are on there with one of your choice. It will have to be a custom job so find someone reputable that does good custom work. Im about to do a custom job on my saleen with the flowmaster super 40 series. I found someone with a great reputation that does custom work and Im having him do it. I'll let everyone know how it comes out and post a vid. Good luck
