Hello all,

I'm posting here because I've a bit a problem with my 2005 V6 auto transmission. When going downhill it changes up to 4th or 5th but seems to have a hard time changing back down when I apply the gas, and the car makes the kind of noise you get when you're going too slow in high gear. I have to manually shift to 3rd or turn off the O/D in order to force it back down and get some power.

Its got 30K miles. I had the transmission fluid changed 2 weeks ago. No mods other than single GT exhaust.

Any ideas?

Thanks for any input.

No tune?

EDIT: It's a rhetorical question ;) I'm suggesting it's a problem with all stock automatics. It's a beast when you are going through the mountains and trying to get quick gear shifts from it. The tune fixes it for the most part.

Tune + Intake may solve your problem. I had the same issue when making my way from where I live, through the mountains and into San Diego. It would shift like a grandma.

have you checked your tranny fluid? maybe you're running a lil low cuz they didn't put in enough...if it was at the ford dealer and under warranty since they fixed it i'd tell em u've been having probs with it since then...if it's low it won't shift as good, and if it's really low, it will take quite a bit of power to get your wheels movin

Thanks all for the replies. No, there is no tune, not yet anyway :-)

After searching some more I found someone had a similar 'problem' because the spark plugs wires were loose, causing loss of power and the symptons I had. I re-sat all those and have not had the problem the last couple of times I drove it. I'm hoping that was it but only time will tell.

Checking tranny fluid isn't possible, as no dip-stick. You need a special tool apparently.
