you know to me i have never been much of a fan of auto's. when i bought my mad ass mach there was the one i bought which was dark grey with stick and they also had a torch red auto. i wanted the red one until i opened the door and i quickly told the salesman not to bother telling me about the car.
by the way i like the fact that the mach only has a few thousand made for 04. i had a black 03 gt and everytime i went to the mall or something my car got lost in a sea of gt's. now the city i live in there is only two of us that has the grey mach 1, and the other guys mach is an 03.mine is the 40th ann. too bad my wife got pregnant, now i am about to have to sell it.
Not sure about the production numbers for mach's, but mach1registry has them.
Auto's aren't bad, especially for drag racing. Stall converter w/stickies auto>manual w/stickies in any race with equally modded cars. Everyday driving and little to no racing I'd say go manual b/c there so damn fun. But some people hate driving a stick in rush hour traffic. I could care less though, playing a little music I like in a half hr of rush hour traffic and I'm happy while driving the stick. It's all about mood and how easily your stressed out there. Good luck on whatever car you find carpe!

2003 Mach 1 Production number was 9,652. Production Figures as follows:
Break Down Mach 1 by Transmission Mach 1 with M/T - 7709 Mach 1 with A/T - 1943
Break Down Mach 1 by Color Torch Red - 2513 Azure Blue - 2250 Black - 1611 Dark Shadow Gray - 1595 Zinc Yellow - 869 Oxford White - 814
i disagree with the auto statement, it can be better if you HP is way up there, but for MOST S/S apps the manual will be better. but Steel is right, be happy with what you decide on thats what makes the difference

quick question. i found a nice looking mach 1 for sale but it has an manual transmission, now i have driving manual, and im not half bad (1st always gives me trouble though) what would it take for me to convert that into an auto trans? could i just use any mustang/mustang gt tranny? or would it have to be something special??
Damn! What bolt-ons do you have to get that kind of mileage? I was getting 17, and i put an o/r x pipe with Flo's and dumps and got 18.5, no matter how i drive it.

As time goes on, manuals will become more far fetched. Alot of companies are switching to 6+ speed autos, paddle shifting and things of that nature. Rowing the gears with a stick shift is awesome, but enjoy it while it lasts. Wish my auto came with 6 speeds, 4 regular gears and 2 overdrive gears...be running 4:30s for sure.
