I have a Kenwood dpx 501 and I used the harness adapters from crutchfield. When I move the balance setting to the right, the sub in the right door fades away. I have the pre out set to sub output on the kenwood. I this because the sub is mono? (shaker 500)

I like the set the balance to the right to sound like i'm in the center...

what year?

The door subs use a stereo set up as far as I was aware.  Are you sure that sub is on at all?

it's a 06, I found this thread that seams to comfim that they are mono. I switch the head unit setting to rear and did the balance test and it has a simular effect but without the bass.

on the 460 the rear subs were mono, but the front were stereo.  Not sure about the 500.

That guy was getting advise from crutchfield which can be good or bad.
