What do yall think about second hand audio??? Meet up with Dennis yesterday (disturbed) and was very helpful found out my 2 10" L5's in a sealed box with a bassworks 1500 did a 126.2 with his machine. I liked his audio equipment but dont think i can afford nor do i want to compete in any events just for dd and playing in parking lots. But he did inform me that he knows alot of people that prob would sell me there extra stuff or older stuff that they no longer use. But im unsure about this cause most of the brands were unknown to me and i dont like stuff i dont know. I do trust him enough that he wouldnt f me (since he would be installing and if it dont wrk well then he would be right there to see that and hopefully get my money back). Fox example he has a (correct me if im wrong plz) vfl 200.1 i think american base makes it or something that he will let go for 450$ but for 450$ i could get a brand new rf bd1500 so u can see my problem he says this amp is a tank and was not abused and could power anything i decided to get in the near future. So im kinda stuck i dont wanna make a mistake. So any help would be appreciated.

Problem is do i need this kinda equipment?? I mean after some research i found out this amp does somewhere over 3500 watts and .7ohm (what does the ohm mean?) I have dual 2ohm but never heard of a .7 ohm anything? He said he had other amps he could find but they were unknows to me so im lost.
He said the 126.2 was low but to me its loud so i dont know i mean i shake mirrors and all so its gotta be somewhat loud. And its musical. His i guess at lower volumes would be musical but what he was doing was not musical just loud booms and to me it was kinda non musical so i want music and loud i guess is what im trying to say. Will the amp i get do anything as far as how musical my subs will play??? SQ???
Gregs2big disturbed is into SPL or Sound Pressure Level. With SPL you are not concerned about the quality of sound in the vehicle only how loud it will perform on the mic. Now that equipment he can get you. Even though its used some of it will probably decimate some of the equipment today.
its more of the enclosure you put them in rather than the amp you get.
ported boxes will definitely "burp" at high volumes because of the distance between sound waves being emitted, they are no longer "blended together" to our ears.
about sealed boxes, they should be more uniform. however ive never had one in the trunk. but get a properly built sealed box if you want it to be more musical all around. (theyre easier to build too). typically sealed is for SQ (sound quality) and ported are for SPL (sound pressure level)
126 is not bad, but I know a guy that did 132 with a single 10" in a bandpass box. 126 is loud to the normal consumer but in the audio world people are not normally impressed until you strart half way up the 130 db mark. The difficulty is that the equation for spl is an exponential equation so if you wanted to get up to 129db you will need to double your power. Every 3 dbs is said to require 2x the power. When you get over the 140 mark you vision will get blurry, 150 is painfull and I don't recommend it. I built one car with 4 12s and two big ol pg amp pushing them and it was near the 150 mark and I didn't like to be in it other then to tune it. It was in an acura legend and 5 months later he came back complaining that he could not open the trunk. The bass had messed something up in it and neither the key nor the alarm would open it. I thought it was a great security feature, who is gona steal it now?
Im going ported on this one unsure of box size since im not building. I need your honest oppinions on this one please cause im going to BUY. Dennis said he found 2 12" tumult's that he could let go for 400$ and the vlf 200.1 for 450$ is this a good price and will it get loud and sound good?? It looks like Adire makes the sub but i cant find there website? Ttoc so with this amp id see over 130db's cause this one does over 3500at .7ohm and my old one did 1000?? ((also what is .7ohm???? is that better then 2 ohm?? Never seen a .7ohm will this even work on the subs i said above cause there dual 2ohm))))) Can i have an spl box but be musical??? Its going in a chevy 1500 extend cab so its not a trunk. Cam how is older audio better then new?? Wouldnt new mean new Tech so better right? Them amp was manf in 06 and the subs were also 06 so he says but i cant verify i dont guess.
Cam how is older audio better then new?? Wouldnt new mean new Tech so better right? Alot of the older audio equipment not necessarily all of it was underatted. For example Orion had and amp with specs for 50x2 but in actuality it was more like 150 x2 if not higher. Preal, Seight311, Hiss, Ttocs, and Disturbed can go into a little more detail on that.
In my Escort Zx2. I did a 132.4 It had Pioneer deck, Image Dynamics IdQ 12 sealed enclosure, Autotek Stealth 500& Autotek Stealth 300, Image Dynamic Mids, Polk Tweeters.
well ok so here we go again. The AB is stable at .7ohm does not have to be wired at .7ohm can run at 1ohm or 2ohm and can go down to .35ohm<< not recommended but can be done). My setup is very musical to a certain point box is tuned to 44hz so its not ur everyday system as i told you but thats only due to the box not the sub. As stated above adire is no longer around but that does not mean they were not good with matts system the 2 12's he could pull over 145 all day long and thats with only roughly 2000w to them in a box tuned to 34hz. But that was no spl setup a pure dd. I do believe seight owned a adire product at one time so he could tell you of there quality. As far as me ripping u off i would have no reason for this as stated it wouldnt cost u a penny for install as long as you buy all meterials needed. And nor would i try to sell defective equipment as i told you (u could get the amp benched for 15$) if u wanna make sure it works properly. But i mean u do what u do but for 1000$ give or take a $$ u would have an incredible sub/amp combo and thats low considering the sub u saw in my car cost more then you would spend for that entire amp/sub/box package. Sure there are entire systems you could buy for 1000$ deck/comps/amps/and sub but the amp and subs in that kinda package wouldnt hold a candle to the amp and sub ive told u about yes audioblah amps can say 3500 watts all day long but it all comes down to them actually doing those number which they want and that AB will do it and laugh at you.

an spl box can be musical, but not necessarily at high levels. imo nothing sounds better than an spl at low levels, very smooth with great output.
This coming from the person that has never had a sealed box in his trunk.....
I have build numberous boxes both sealed and ported and without question the sealed enclosure will sound better and have better response then a ported enclosure. Ported gets loud and can sound good, sealed sounds good to great and sacrifices volume for response, blend, timing and overall sound quality.
OP,
Dennis found you an amazing setup. You will have a hard time beating that setup for the price and it would be ashame to let that go and buy something of poorer quality for the same price or more.
