I am a musician, among my other talents, such as art, sleeping prolonged periods of time, video games, cars etc... anyhoo, I am in my college's marching band, and today was the section leader interviews, for as long as I have been there, there has always been two leaders for the alto saxaphone section(my instrument of choice) well, anyway, I go in with the only other person who signed up for an interview, so I think in the back of my mind that I have a clean shot at bagging the position (which I have wanted for the past 2 years)
so we have the lil interview, and I was a bit nervous, sitting infront of 8 people being asked the most obscure questions known to man, so I had a tendedcy to stammer a bit when I talked....
well they posted the results later that evening, and low and behold, only my friend got the position.... wtf...
now since I have a brain that never stops thinking until it finds the logical answer, I am restless and cannot sleep...
The band director and I had a small quarrel last fall over something seemingly insignificant. in that quarrel I called out the band student secretary, this saucy redhead who answers every thing the band directors says and wants her to do... this makes me wonder if he is still holding a grudge, which he has been known to do
I come to think that he also does not like me, as he also booted me from concert band this year, claimed my audition was terrible... etc... Ive been playing the sax for 10 years, and tho I am not the greatest, I am not terrible either... If I had time to practice I would be better... but yeah...
so now I dont know what I am going to do next year, do I let it "slide" and jsut go through next season like nothing is wrong, do I just have a total disregard for the rules and do whatever I want, or do I just find a way to get even with the douche....
now keep in mind, I have always been there with a positive attitude, I have volunteered my time in the past, etc etc, good role model...
well, discuss if you would like, I just needed to vent... and since MF is open 25 hours a day, yup...

1.I am a band geek
2. went out for section leader position for the 2nd year in a row
3. was denied the position, that has always been a 2 person job, now 1 person....
4.I think the director has a grudge against me for a meaningless quarrel 9 months ago
5. Director is a douche
6. now what, brush it off, become a jerk, or get even?

ummmmm any of your suggestions besides brush it off would just make **** worse if you actually enjoy band. just suck it up, theres some reason you were not picked, probably for your past assholiness.

I know what you mean about the band cliques... I mean, its college, people are "supposed" to be grown up, and I would assume a 41 year old college professor would be the most grown up.... hah....
college really is an overpriced daycare.....
I dont think Ill go out for it again, maybe to start off band camp I'll do a nice brakestand in the lot that his office overlooks been itchin to break those BFGs loose hahah
the best part is, my friends wonder why I distance myself, prefer not to take part in their callous shallow ways, cuz no matter how hard I try, I wont fit in there well.

I know that, my policing professor usually tells us something along those lines every other class lol. tho he said for those of us who are going to be cops, its not within the department you are in usually, as you need to work as a team to make sure you all get home safe, but its usually your relationship with the public, 90% of the time your off duty etc...
