Well tonight at the faculty banquet i went to this evening I couldn't help but feel a little victimized. I work for the housing office at my university as a desk assistant. Awards where given out tonight for the desk-assistant of the year for each dorm building. For the building I work at there are 3 people. Me , a girl and another guy. The other guy only works there 2 hours a week so its like he doesn't even count. I work there 24 hours a week and the girl works a little less then me.
Not to toot my own horn but I'm good at my job. I follow through with disciplinary action , I come to work an hour early two days a week every week , I stay late when the need me to. I have a positive communal relationship with the majority of the residents there. I DO MY JOB and THEN SOME. I know the girl that works the shift before me just keeps to her self and weirds people out. So tonight at the awards part of the banquet I expect to be the DA of the year for my dorm. The girl gets the award.... The person who picks the award was our boss; resident director. our RD just so happens to be a lesbian. The girl that won ALSO happens to be a lesbian.
Another award was giving out to the building. Resident Assistant of the year. There are 7 resident assistants in the building and AGAIN the RD got to choose who would win the award. BIG SURPRISE the RD choose the one gay dude to get the award.
Now winning the little piece of paper was not that important to me, what was is that I could have used that as something good to put on my resume. I have a pretty nice resume and I was counting on winning tonight to assist in building my resume because I have a hard time getting summer work in my home town because its so small.
cliff notes: I didn't get an award to boost my resume because the gay judges picked the gay people to win.
is this not along the same lines as affirmative action?

i was the boss at a restaurant. its amazing the amount of employees who want to be friends so they can slack off. i dont give into that garbage

I wonder if you are a douche at work and everyone talks **** about you behind your back because you act like you are the greatest thing since sliced bread, and you know how to do everything with your half of a college degree. we have people like that here at work. nevermind what the people with experience and expertise think, YOU are better at doing their job than they are. just reading the post makes you seem that way.
