So... I know pretty much about engines, but when it comes to suspension I'm basically lost.

I want to drop my Cobra, especially in the front, because it's currently got the 4x4 stance and it doesn't look good. Can I just put on lowering springs, or do I need to buy all new suspension to do it correctly? What would be the bad side effects of just installing lowering springs??

Thanks

Springs will be fine, you may want to get a pair of Caster Camber plates so it can be aligned better but they are not a must, just a nice to have.

Or, go all-in and send that puppy out to Griggs Racing for a GR-40 set-up and I will take you for a run on the Pacific Coast HWY 1 twisties . You would be amazed how nice your car will handle on a nice coil-over set-up

All depends on your budget.  Coil overs are best, but a simple upgrade like I have will make a world of difference.  I went w/ ford racing B springs, poly isolators, tokico blue shocks and struts.  It's a cheap and very effective upgrade.  I bought through stangsuspensions.com and they were great.  It cost me around $520 to my front door.

I now have a coil over set up on the front with Roush stage 3 springs on the rear with a solid axle.  Went with Tokico D-specs all the way around.  Couldnt imagine what a 4 corner coil over set up would handle like.....

It is insane! Complete Griggs GR-40 system with full-frame support (upper and lower). 100% of the suspension has been replaced (except rear sway bar). There is only one set of eurothane bushings on axle-end of lower control arms (UCA have been removed), all other joints are Hiem. Ride is comfortable (equivalent to Saleen), but feel like a spider on center of his web. You can feel every microscopic part of the road....... VERY cool

Don't wanna hijack, so go to Griggs and read up on it. I run down Z06 Corvettes, BMW's and such all day on twisties. I have yet to tangle with a WRX as those things can be an absolute beast on the back-roads.
