i just installed a avic d3 to my mustang 03 mach 460 and the sound sucks, sounds like a cheap radio... there is no bass on the subs and the tweeters have to much bass, i put it louder and the tweeters start popping anybody with this problem?
the blue wires, look at the blue(and white) wires. There is amp turn on(blue and white) on the factory hrns and blue/white remote turn on from the deck. The subs will probably make a loud popping noise when the amp turns on, and you need to add some capacitors to block the bass from the tweets and keep them from blowning.
yes i connected the blue/white wires from the rca harness to the blue/white system control termial from the pioneer harness and i dont feel the bass that i would on my old headunit besides that i need a bassblocker on the tweeters i have to have the high pass filter to 125 hz on the headunit or tweeters start popping if i put it lower and turn it off the tweerters pop even when the sound is low... what settings do you have for the sub and other speakers? do you have bass blockers?
125 is too low for 2.5s, go closer to 400 if you can. Are you using the sub outputs or speaker outputs? Is there ANY bass from the speakers or just weak, bad sounding bass? It is common to need a line driver to boost the rca output voltage up higher were the factory amps are happier.
100 microfarad caps will give the speakers approx a 400 hz x-over. I did run them while I was using the factory tweets but that was some time ago.
125 is the max the the avic d3 gives... the bass is just low compared to when i had the original unit but this weekend im am goint to try to disconnect the rcas to see if i notice any difference
ok, rca's then. By disconnecting them the bass will go from bad to really bad. You might need to call a shop or two(big boxes don't carry them) and ask for a line driver. It is a low level amp that will boost the rca signal to where the factory amps will be happier. They designed their amps to use a higher voltage input, your pioneer is just a little short of what they need to be happy.
the closest that crutchfield really goes is 300hz, but if you take a trip to your local radio shack they will rape you for a couple of bucks for a 100 MICROfarad capacitor. If you insist on the ones from crutchfield, and pay for the shipping, wait to get them and then remove that blue shrink wrap on them you will see that crutchfield really raped you and wasted your time for the exact same thing......... trust me......
i dont know if this changes anything or not but i connected my amps turn-ons to the avic d3 instead of the ignition, i dont know if that will cause the amps to have less power or not
I was suggesting crutchfield since i have a coupon for free shipping and i have some credit to spend over there...
