I'm glad no one is giving him sympathy and bashing cops.. my Dad is a VA State Police and you wouldn't be surprised by the idiots he comes across. It sounds like to me you tried to intimidate the female officer, after that - you deserve whatever she threw your way (not that you didn't deserve it before). First of all, have you met every VA LEO?! Probably not.
AND second, You're obviously doing something wrong to get pulled over. I've went passed VA troopers, locals, and campus police with my cat-less car, screaming sometimes, and haven't gotten bothered.
I've gotten 1 ticket (which was dropped 70 in a 55) and I've never dealt with a nicer trooper. I've also gotten chased down by a norfolk cop only to have him say 'nice car'

YOU MAY TURN ON YELLOW
if a car stops in the MIDDLE of the road they are at fault by default. If they stopped AT THE LINE you are free to make your left hand turn presuming you are in the left turn lane.
I have a similar story. I was turning left and the light was yellow , I see a guy coming but he is far away so i assume he will stop, the dude blows past the light making me stop ( he runs a red light in the process) and there is a bikker chick cop on the other street, I say hey that dude ran a red light , and she looked at me all mean and said " SO DID YOU!!!! "
cops fail all the time and are not perfect. I had a cop tell me that HE had the right of way when pulling out of a parking lot LOLOLOLOLOL. I think OP didnt break the law but was put in an odd circumstance since car stopped in the middle of the road.

Solid lines in the road means you dont cross them, *gasp* just like the ones at an intersection(running with traffic, not across)...yellow means slow down, not haul ass to get to the otherside

and man, all I have to say is wow, you guys really have a good wholesome opinion of the police. makes me feel confident considering thats the career I am going into. hope most of you realize the police are just tryin to keep you safe and most cops just want to get through their shift safely and get home.
I have to say my policing professor was right, the general public will only like the police when they are in need....
