Local purchase, a Guy has a 2000 Camaro SS for sale for 9250.00 firm. Car has only 9500 miles supposedly.

It needs some minor work, it needs a hood latch, and a power steering pump ( wonder what happened here? )

It also has a small dent in right rear quarter panel where someone backed into the car ( seller claimed if i purchased he would let me take it to a friend at a dealer to take the dent out )

Interior is perfect, as it should be with so few miles, stock car as well.

He thought 9250 was a good price, and priced it at that because he said KBB came back with about 12900 and he felt the discount was good, yet these cars go for way over kbb right now.

Clear title with no liens as well, vin ## in hand. Am i missing something? even with this minor work this car seems like a steal, I am afraid it's too good to be true.

Plus, i really just dont' know much about ls1's. I currently own a 2006 mustang gt.

sounds way cheap for only 9500 miles.  In fact it sounds too good to be true.  I would be very suspicious.  Try a Carfax on that mother.

carfax is clean, and remember that the title is clear as well, i know this doesn't mean everything, but it is still very important.

If the title is in hand I don't think the car could be a clone? wouldn't make much sense.

I do agree on the possibility of a rebuilt car that someone maybe totalled and then pieced it back together or something maybe...

what are the main things to look for? I am not completely stupid, so hopefully I can check for major issues.

Look at the lift points in the front of the car, behind the front wheels.  These are notorious for getting weaker and weaker, and eventually bending in (or out).  It pushes the front quarters out usually.

What they mean is it could just be a Z28 with SS badging... the RPO codes will tell you quickly if it is a true SS or not.

Even still if it is a Z28 with SS badging, 9250 for a 9500 2000 is way too low... I would expect that to be atleast 14k. A normal 30-50k mileage one goes for the 10-12 range.

x 1,000,000.

low mileage (<30k miles) LS1 cars tend not to be that cheap

I would doubt it only has 9500 miles, it most likely has 95000 miles.  Oh and the BF who is a camaro freek says it smells like a bad deal, something is wrong with the car.

only read the OP so idk if it's been covered  yet, but the rear quarter panels on a f-body are the only metal pieces of the body, and they're connected to the frame also. if one has been hit there, i'd probably pass

there is something wrong here....

even if it WAS an SS clone (aka a z28) with those miles its still a $15k + car ( a 2000 Z28 with 9500 miles around here would prob go for upwards of $18000)... a true SS with those miles would easily fetch over $20k (provided its not a salvage and not trashed)

that price is about right for a V6 camaro

check pedals for wear. They usually show mileage of a car pretty well

Thanks guys, I am going to check it out on Saturday. Probably going to take it to a guy I know at a chevy dealer and let them just look it over because I wouldn't trust myself to check everything. I'll let you guys know how it goes, my main thought is that something is wrong with the car, as in it is a rebuild from a big time wreck that no one reported or something, which is most likely what the deal is, that or something is majorly wrong with it right now.

Only time will tell.
