From what i've been hearing most stock ls2 owners are running 12.4-12.5... If that's the case.. there have been plenty of 12.5 cobras stock..
There have also been 12.2's out of LS2's....Ran by Joe Shmoes....
I have heard of the 12.4 ran by Evan Smith, A small dude that floggs the hell out of his cars on cold days, well prepped tracks with Sub 1300 DA's...He also got a stock LS1 f-body into the 12's....
The Cobra is close to 500lbs heavier with a 20whp advantage and the front end of a brick compared to a C6, yet they are evenly matched...?
Not that both cars are worlds apart, a simple tune,cai,cat-back and it's evened up...

I know they have insane capabilities, but how much does it cost to make them say an 11sec car? 10sec car? I know stock they're about as fast as LS1's and Mach 1's, but was always wondering what type of dough people put in them to get them fast.
Since this is for cars that defined a decade (performance wise, unless it's open for others?) not a few years here or there here is my list. Question, how do cars at the end of a decade define a decade? The 79 TA sure didn't define the 70's and the 89 LX 5.0 was a product of the previous 5.0's before it that did define this decade... just wondering...
1960's -First GTO and the First Mustang, those two cars defined two segments everybody else followed.
1970's -First thought, the Super Bee and 1975 Super Duty TA however they marked the end of an era so for the 70's I pick the Mustang II as it defined a decade of dismal performance overall and a complete departure from performance to economy, thankfully GM at least had performance "looking" cars even if they were slow "overall".
1980's -82 Mustang "Boss is Back" started yet another race between GM and Ford and defined how the decade would follow, cars like the GNX were a product of this, not the cause and didn't define this decade.
1990's LT1 Camaro showed everybody else who was serious so it defined this decade, Ford just didn't listen, sales was key
Millenium -2005 Mustang, this one is a no contest, everybody is following this with either retro cars or bringing back from the dead cars. The Corvette is another but didn't define how this decade would go.
I'm sure this will get trampled but it's just my humble opinion.

No 1969 is the end of the 60's and 1979 is the end of the 70's. I just happened to put it down that way. I didn't in anyway mean that one certain model year outperformed, outvalued, and outsold all other cars of the decade.

you're missing what im trying to say...
C6's run 12.2-12.5... Cobras run 12.4-12.7... we can both agree on that im assuming... which is why I said what i said...
Yes with equal drivers the Vette should win... however, the reason the Terminator still takes it.. is because of the opportunity vs cost involved. The Cobra is cheaper to buy, cheaper to mod, and can take more power then the Vette and less production.... I mean think about it, there are low 11 second Cobras with 100k miles that have NEVER had any motor part replaced or nitrous. And they did it with 2 grand - There might be LS2's out there the same way, but not nearly as many, and that's also with the limited production of the Terminators... It's not a diss on the Vette.. it's a great car, but it is what it is...
The 2003/2004 Cobra will be remembered like the TT Supras... like the ZR1 Vette.... The new vette won't... the z06 will, but that will be forgotten once the blue devil or w/e the hell it's called shows up....
That's why I chose it over the Vette.

i dont think it's that much. alot of money people put into them go into buying the actual car, and doing all the body kits and everything(IMO, supras look better in kits than stock). i mean.. the 2JZ is a TT... and factory boosted cars are easy as hell to get ower out of. plus it's RWD, so do some traction/suspension work, it's already 10x better.
what does a 600hp supra have in common with a 1,000hp supra?
*drumroll*
They both run twelves!
because people don't get that running a HUGE turbo and making 1000hp doesn't really mean the car's going to be that fast. an 800hp TT Supra running smaller snails is going to be faster than the 1000hp Supra running one HUGE snail

Anything with a 1,000 hp is gonna be fast. Its the fact that huge turbo cars have no usable powerband. Once the monster hair-dryer hits boost, it picks up X amount of horsepower with the flip of a lightswitch

has alot to do with suspension, traction, and driver too.
either way, i'd still prefer a TT 2JZ over any car. haha

that's what i was trying to say. if you can get 1000hp out of a TT setup that has a useable powerband, it's going to be much faster than a 1000hp single turbo that is peaky

The 1982 "Boss" Mustang was Ford's makeshift response to the all new 1982 GM F-bodies. The Fox chassis was already in its fourth year, and pretending to be a performer with 120 hp 255ci V8's.
1960's Ford Mustang - Revolutionized affordable performance cars. 1970's Pontiac Trans Am - Kept the musclecar torch lit (dimly) through the smog/phony gas shortages 70's. 1980's F-bodies/Fox body Mustang - Showed Detroit that there was still a market for performance cars. 1990's SN95/New Edge Mustang's - Ford builds an inferior car to the 4th gen F-bodies and still manages to handily outsell it. 2000's S197 Mustang - Calling all imitators !!!
