They said that its supposed to modeled alot like the european Mondeo sedan, and it actually looks pretty nice. Better than the botched Ford 500 theyre calling the Taurus.

Ive always thought the Taurus was a great car and Im hoping that this become the new one, it'll probably kick the Camrys ass.
I doubt it. When has any American car beat an import in, uhh, anything?
That aside, I agree with you that the Taurus has always been an awesome car. This one actually looks pretty good and I am sure will do just as well as the ones before it; maybe a bit better. They are boring cars, though. That's why I couldn't ever own one.

V-6 is for real drivers. Go buy a Jetta if you want gas mileage and a chicks car. Buy a V-8 Mustang if you have no driving ability and need the extra horsepower to compensate and feel like you''''''''re fast.
I liked the one in the picture, but in all honesty the taurus was never really meant to be for performance applications. My brother owned one and it kicked ass, but it DID suck gas big time (somewhere around 18 MPG I believe?). If they made one that got 30+ MPG all disc brakes and had the styling like this one and sold it as a family sedan it would probably sell like hotcakes assuming that it keeps all of it's previous safety ratings.

Yeah the SHO was made for a niche market. However the Taurus has and always will be a family sedan.
The old 500's/new Taurus really is not a bad car for the conservative driver folks. Their biggest liability right now is it's priced too high compared to what the Taurus was a few years ago. They've lost their target market.

Although a bit blurry, that definately looks like a Mondeo (or at least based on one) to me. I've seen the Mondeo on Top Gear a few tiems and it seems like a neat midsize car. Probably a good move seeing as the new Taurus' to me seem like they moved up to Crown Vic territory, which isn't really what the Tuarus ever was. Only problem is that they still sell the Crown Vic.

All I think it needs is a 150-160 hp 4 banger with a GOOD automatic tranny and I think itll dominate. Ive always seen Fords weakness in their trannys, especially the autos.
