Well, this is the race I've been looking forward to since I got my car. A good buddy of mine has an '04 GT 5spd with CAI, TB spacer, and Flowmaster muffler-back exhaust. He's also on here. He's user 3ohtwo. He lives in Des Moines now, but was back for a week. Just before he got ready to head back tonight, I said I wanted to run real quick. Probably wasn't the best thing to do, since my clutch is sh*t and he needs a new flywheel. But, we went anyways. We went from a 20 roll because we're both tractionally challenged. I also didn't really want my clutch to explode because of a hard launch. He got the jump because I was scared to go early, like I did on the first try. But, it wasn't a big jump or anything. He had a fender, at most, from the jump. I hit 2nd pretty quick and got even and started to very slowly inch by him. I hit 3rd, and was surpised to hear the tires bark. By the top of 3rd, I had a car length on him. I hit 4th, but, he let off because we knew he wouldn't come back (crappy 2v topend). I was happy to get the win, but still disappointed I didn't beat him by more, considering my mods to his minimal mods. The cutout was capped. So, I was also hampered by a basically stock catback, with Flowmaster 80 series muffler(said to flow worse than stock). I wanted to go again with it uncapped, but he had to hit the road and probably also didn't want to go deaf, with the cutout exiting on the side he'd be on. It was a good friendly run though. Hopefully we'll get to try it again next time he's back, and I'll have a new clutch and the full tune-up my car needs (plugs, wires, broken header bolt, etc.), and he'll have a new flywheel, so we're both running 100%. I'll uncap the cutout next time too. lol

Nice kill bro! Sounds about right. You gotta take into consideration that a new edge stang and an LT1 camaro are gonna be drivers races. You have 15 horse on him but also some weight. You have a very slight edge in mods, but you said your not running at 100%. So you probably would have taken him by another car or so, if you were. Tell your buddy to get a tune before he comes back, you guys will be pretty much equal, with the slight edge going to you. But, i think it will be a good drivers race!

Yeah, he said he needs to get a tune if he does anything else to it. He's talking about getting a new H-pipe with hi-flow cats soon. I don't think he'll get an ORH, he wants to keep it legal. Mostly, he's just working on appearance right now, though. He just put in some new black housing projector headlights and billet upper and lower grilles before he came back. It looks awesome.

Too bad you live in illinois. I'll love to meet up at a track or somethin with you. I think i'd be a pretty good race. You might have me tho. You might have a bigger mod list.

Well, my mods don't really mean crap, with the stuff that needs fixed now. I think, as my car sits, you'd take me. Once I get everything done that it needs, it'd be good though.

I've got one an hour away(Cordova, IL). I'll make quite a few trips there, after I get my clutch and some of the other stuff done. I've found a few people around here and on LS1tech to meet up with there, so it should be a fun summer. I need to quite street racing anyways. Especially while I'm on probation because of it.
haha probation for street racing..too bad..but ur pipes look sweet dude...i really do love the old square ones u had tho, i love those rectangled ones..car looks good and get that stuff fixed...!!

Well, it was more for the fleeing and eluding. The street racing charge was actually dropped. I freaked when the cop turned around. So, I took some corners, not knowing he was even after me (I thought he went after the other car). Next thing I know, there's a cop car sitting in front of me when I take a corner. Got arrested, with about $400 in fines, 100 hours community service(sucks working and not getting paid), and 2 years probation. I've only got about 7 months left though. And thanks. I really like the new tips. The old square ones were alright, but, I just wanted something new and different. I saw a few different cars with them, on LS1Tech, and decided to get them instead of some Corsa clones because they looked really good and were dirt cheap, considering the price of your average stainless tips. I hate to see them get dirty though. I usually end up polishing them every night. lol
