Strictly speaking, tint reduces the visibility from the inside to the outside as well. Reduced light means you aren't going to notice the smaller light variations, say someone or something moving in a blind spot. Yes of course it's not like putting curtains up inside the car, but you can't say it doesn't affect anything at all. There are laws for reasons (most of them good reasons) and I'd be willing to bet there is more research and data behind those laws than nearly anyone drooling over illegal tint can justify (how many of you have reasons beyond cosmetic for the tint?)- otherwise it wouldn't be illegal. I'd be willing to bet alot of it is just sticking it to the man though, it just wouldn't be as tempting if it were legal [:D] I've got a light tint on a grand prix (it came with the car) and although it doesn't change it much it definately does change the view.
