Well, i got my first ticket and have a court date, few questions... How does this whole thing work? Apparently I was going 100.9 in a 65, what will happen?

So I was waxing the car in the garage today, was squating down and backed up a little and my tailbone hit the edge of my snowblower which is supposed to be in the basement but my little brother is a lazy fat stupid moron, so the car looks good but my ass hurts to much to drive it And it's hard to walk and get up from sitting down....Just thought i'd share my day with you

I would refer to this thread.  100.9 in a 65, ouch!

I was trying to make a butt joke, and refer you to your previous thread about "My Ass Hurts!!"  Much in the same way 35th made a joke about not dropping the soap.

IE, this court appearance may be a kin to you takin' it in the rear.

I sincerely hope that is not the case, in my state you can plead for court supervision and get the ticket suspended.

Is it a speeding ticket or reckless driving charge?

If it is a ticket, I do believe the officer who issued it has to appear.  If you've got priors, not much will help you.  If this is your first ticket, you're gonna have to eat humble pie.  Be as pleasant as possible.  Have a little story ready.  You looked at your speedometer and it read 70, when you realized the cop was pulling you over.  You were traveling with the traffic on your regular route to work, etc, etc..  You want to be the least of the judge's problems on that day.   Put doubt in the judge's mind.  Ask the judge if the Radar gun could have been wrong or got a false reading somehow.  Tell him/her how careful you are with the car because it is brand new, etc, etc.  You really try hard to make no mistakes when you are driving.  You promised your Dad you would be extra careful if he let you get the red Mustang, yadda, yadda,...

Good luck.

Be humble in front of the judge.  Yes sir. No sir. Three bags full.

He has your fuzzy little gumdrops on an anvil with a hammer in his hands.

Also, slow down.  Dumbass.

I've had to go to court several times to prosecute on behalf of my company.  On one instance, the judge was very impressed when a young guy's father stood up and said a few words to support him.  The kid was very polite and remorseful, so I told the judge our company would agree with any decision the court made, and the judge dismissed the case.

Whatever you do, if it is a lady, do Not tell her tits or GTFO.

I'm gonna take the stab that you are completely screwed.  100.9 in a 65!?  They are not going to look kindly on that at all, first offense or not.

Looks like a first offense in CN is from between $100 and $300.  Then on top of that they add all kinds of other things.

...or something. Ask if you are eligible for driving school. I don't think you have a chance to beat that so maybe plead no contest and ask about school.

When I read this in the summary i almost cried... Then i saw it was for virginia
"It is considered to be reckless driving to (1) exceed the posted speed limit by 20 mph or more or (2) drive over 80 mph regardless of the speed limit. In these instances the fine can be up to $ 2,500 plus an additional “road abuser fee” assessment of $ 1,050. However, the higher charge and fine for violations of driving 20 or more miles per hour above the speed limit has not been consistently applied in Virginia"

But yeah It says the fine is $100-$300 for first offense plus the fine multipliers....

• A surcharge equal to 50% of the assessed fine. This extra amount goes to the Special Transportation Fund and is known as the “STF surcharge” (CGS § 13b-68).
^+ a possilbe $150
• An additional fee of $ 1 for every $ 8 of fine, or any fraction thereof, for the purpose of providing funds for state and municipal police training (CGS § 51-56a(c)).
• A $ 15 cost must be imposed against anyone who pleads no contest to, or is convicted of, a speeding violation or speeding infraction (CGS § 54-143(a) (Note—This cost applies to violations of CGS § 14-219 but not to violations of CGS § 14-218a).
• A $ 20 surcharge must be imposed on anyone who pleads no contest to, or is convicted of, any infraction, or certain violations. However, if the infraction carries a fine of $ 35 or more, the amount that must be paid is $ 35 (CGS § 54-143a).
^+35
• Anyone convicted of speeding, reckless driving, or drunk driving must pay an additional $ 5 assessment, which is designated for use for traumatic brain injury prevention services. The assessment also applies to anyone who pleads no contest to a speeding charge and pays the fine by mail (CGS § 14-295a).
^+5
• An additional fee of $ 10, which is paid to the municipality in which the offense occurred (CGS § 51-56a(d)).
^+10
In addition to all of these special assessments, when certain offenses occur in a designated (1) state highway construction zone, (2) utility work zone, or (3) school zone, the violator must pay an additional amount equal to 100% of the assessed fine (CGS §§ 14-212a, 212b). Table 1 illustrates how these additional fees and fine multipliers work for a typical speeding violation.

So i could end up paying $500 Hopefully that's not the case

Yea, in TX I think it's about 20-25 MPH over speed limit and you might as well bend over. Anything under 20-25 MPH under you can just take defenesive driving and get if off your record...but for 100 in a 65 - I havnt been there so I have no clue.
