well i was talking to my father and he said that rubbing compound gives te same effect as a claybar is this right??

No. Rubbing compound will remove layers of clear coat and paint. A claybar simply pulls contaminants off your paint and strips wax.

Like Dan said. Two different things. Apples and oranges! Each are two different steps in a 3 or 4 step exterior detail.
