power rear seat wires

  

My 13utt -> power rear seat wires (4/14/2008 4:07:20 PM)

I tore out my rear seats from a 1998 and found two pigtails under it all.  I'm assuming they are for some sort of power rear seat or something?  Well, I'm wanting to run a few LEDs and those would make a perfect power source.  Anyone have a wire diagram or know if those would be a good hot spot to tap into?

i can assure you they are not for a power rear seat but i have no idea what they are for. ill look for a diagram though.

Mantastic!  Now that I think about it, power rear seats seems silly.  There's two plugs tho, mounted on the floorboard below the seat.  Very odd.  Here's a few pics of them.

ya, its something, just not sure.  Too late now tho, the speaker box is in.  I'm just going to tap into the radio harness for my power and ground, run it to a switch in the dash, then back to the lights.  On the 99 up mustangs the defroster, fog lights, and trac control buttons are below the radio.  Is there any way to tap into those for my switch?  I got a bezel off an 03 because its double DIN and would love to keep it factory with the switches it has.  I did some testing and found its a compress switch or something.  Its got a power and ground prong, and when pressed the switch completes the circuit (supposedly sending a signal to the fog light relay) but when you take your finger off it cuts the circuit.  IS there a relay or something I can buy to plug in to this so it works for my LEDs or should I save the headache and just get a simple toggle switch to replce it?

haha, even with power and heat, I'd still pass on a back seat ride in a 'stang.

the convertible is what I would think it would be....what else would need power back there? But we shouldnt put it past Ford to put those back there just to confuse the hell out of us [;)]....
