Well im about to get my 65 a week from today . But it is just a regular coupe. Soo since the Shelby are so darn sexy im turning it into a GT-350 clone.

I am trying to decide what color to paint it. It HAS to base black. So was there any black with stripes other than white?

I like the gold stripes of the Hertz, but wouldnt that be kinda odd? A 65 shelby Hertz replica :p

Also, did the 65 have the brake scoops? Cause I LOVE those.

If you're going for a clone, and it has to be black, I'm afraid you're stuck with the Hertz colors of black with gold stripes.  Pretty sure all the other Shelby's were white with blue stripes or vice-versa.

Sorry for the triple post.

Does the Hertz have anything different besides the paint and engine.

Im trying to make it close to the real thing, without braking the bank.

Im getting the shelby hood, brake scoops, and the freaking awesome tach pod. Then redo the interior in black, and brushed aluminum.

dont shelby clone it... not on a coupe. All of us guys that know mustangs go to shows (at least I do ) and sit and be like wow, there were no real shelby coupes...

Build it to be what you WANT dont go for a exact clone. If you want this body kit, this engine, whatever. paint it black with flat black stripes or something. But dont go for an exact repro...

Build it what you want it to be.

It not going to be a show car, so ima do what I want . Since Im 19, I dont plan on selling it for a VERY long time. So im not worrying about value. Im going to make it how I please.

Dude I'm 21...  know what its like to not make $100,000 a year.

Build the car you WANT.

I'm not trying to insult, but if I saw the coupe at a show or cruising around, chances are good that based off my past experiences, I would turn to my fiance and say "Whats wrong with that car?" and she'd say "God. I'm tired of this **** game, but clearly there were no shelby coupes"

And plan how you want, I have been through 7 Mustangs since i was 12. You need money, you have lquid assets. Trust me. Ain't much fun, and you regbret it later, but I'm pretty pleased with ownng a 70 mach and a 65 coupe for the fiance, when i started with a 67 coupe nline 6.....

Make a custom car. Not excessively so, but make changes you want. Black with black, black with cream, whatever....

Its your car, i'm just providing my .02

Ok, hows about black with gold stipes, shelby hood, brake scoops, cool tach pod, and NO shelby emblems. All regular emblems. This way it just looks like a highly modified coupe, with good taste.

also, if you want a more custom look, and less like a clone, get a rear spoiler and deck lid

id much rather have the dark green and gold hertz. ive been tossing around the idea of putting the gold stripes on mine but havent decided yet. might end up just doing white
