well the fi btl system got a lil expencive an the amp side. and joey if that amp is crap what amp would you prefer????

Are you joking???

You could run the exact same amp for either setup, but with the Fi's you get a sub that doesn't sound like poo.

Kicker L5's and L7's are complete garbage!!!

L7's aren't complete garbage. You can get them cheap and make them put up some decent numbers.
L5's however . . .

When did i say anything about an amp?

If i went with two 18" BTL's I would probably run two eD Nine.1's strapped at 1 Ohm giving you over 3K watts, which should be plenty to get those two moving.

That's only $630, so if you need another, you have plenty to get another and have close to 4500 or 5K watts of clean, reliable power, without overpricing, overrated marketing mark-up crap.

Somebody correct me if i am out of line here.

Who said anything about sound, SPL is what I was talking about.

Even with regards to SLP, they will fall short to any other purpose built SPL sub on the market. Kicker stopped producing quality equipment when got rid of of the round, true kicker comp.

Purpose built SPL sub yes -
Fro the price you can get them on eBay / the flea markets no -

Granted if you know what your doing nothing is hard to accomplish with any sub.

loudest sounds to the human ear come around 50-70 Hz, so i would start there for SPL. but PReal suggested 32ish Hz for my daily used system for good SQ and havent been dissappointed yet.

SPL setups generally run from 40-60hz (more so 45-55hz) But they are all one note wonders.

General setups are 25-35hz.

keep in mind if you tune it that high (around 50-60 hz) you can damage the sub(s) if you play regular music. not SPL test tones. so if you get somethin burpin around 25-30 Hz on your CD player you might blow somethin. if its not a strict comp set up just tune it around 30Hz.

you can tune a single box multiple times. no need to build more boxes. take a couple days to build one quality box, and work on the tuning the next few days.
