ORIGINAL: Jbauer Ohh ok- so what your saying is that even though a tire has a smaller over all diameter- other tires that have a smaller diameter will appear to fill the gap more? why is this? because of offset? if so- what exactly is offset? I tried googling it but i don't think i understand. Thanks for the edumacation Got a nice little chuckle from the Jazzer there Off-set is difficult to explain without pics and a good website to seek is ***HERE***. I have posted this link before, but you will see all the ins/outs of wheels and dimensions and how they are measured. To your point on smaller diameter wheels, no What I am saying is bringing the wheel outward via spacer or just because it is wider will fill the gap you see when looking down the side of your car. I am positive THIS will help the appearance you seek. Keep in mind that above the drivers wheel and just on the other side of the plastic liner that you can see inside fender, is a HUGE bundle of wire going to engine compartment and mostly to the fuse block next to shock tower. If the tire is too large diameter, car is too low or the bump stops are cut away, you will hit this bundle of wire with the wheel when it is driven up into the liner by a huge bump in road. Your tire can bottom-out on this and you will have some serious issues to fix on the side of the road. You will NEVER be able to safely eliminate the gap entirely for the above reason. See the pics below and, let me tell ya, this is as LOW as you will safely go on a street Stang. The BMW's and Z's you see out there with the 1/4" space (looks cool, huh?) have fenders with different design to allow smaller space from profile, but more room for travel underneath fender. The fender is also "thinner" where it is next to tire, so it can be VERY close and still allow steering and movement via bumps. Look at one up close sometime and you will see what I mean. OK, as promised, here are some pics. I have measured and my front fender at highest piont is 25 3/4" off ground. It is probably higher than your car as my tires are probably larger around. There is 3/4" space between the top of tire and the fender, so tire is 25" around. You probably cannot see, but the outter edge is "shiney" due to very minor contact with plastic fender shield at 9:00 position. No pic, but the rear tire is 1 1/4" space between top of tire and fender. Here are a couple looking down the side of car with tires just at the edge of fender, but NOT past, as I think it would look like ..... Here is a nice pic of how well the wheel fills the well and how incredible I think the stance of this car is There you have it. You would be VERY hard pressed to attain a smaller gap and not have issues with rubbing. Hope that helps. Now enough talk....... go git yo self some nice Bullets or go to Hardcore Mustangs (site sponsor) and get some 9"s and 10.5" Saleen replicas (as I did) and fill them wells with some meats Jazzer The Cat
