Status: offline i have the stok 245/45/17 tires on now if i move up to a 18 and get 245/40/18 tires will that throw off my speedo???

You need to compare the diameters of the two tires. You will probably not as the new wheel is 1" larger around, but the tire will be nearly that much smaller, so should be fine .

I had an '85 GT and was able to replace the speedo gear in the tranny to correct the 5 MPH it was off when I went from 225/60/15"s to 235/50/18"s. Small little gear and took about 10 minutes to install. Don't know if you can do that in your year. If not, you will be able to do it another way, so ask Ford.
