My son, against my advise took his 96 GT to "professional installer" to have a new head unit http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Products/CarAudioVideo/Source/CD-Players/Premier/DEH-P400UB installed. They also installed 800 watt amp and 2 http://www.cadencestore.com/ProductCart/pc/viewPrd.asp?idcategory=105&idproduct=283 subs, It sounds terrible and my guess is they ran the hi level out puts through the factory amp. I have read many of the articles about this and many replies on here but I still have questions that i need answered and only want to make one trip to get parts. This radion has 3 rca out puts so this should then hook up to the factory amp and after market amps correct. Which addapter do i need? I have BB CC and Wally World to choose from. Do I need bass blockers or any thing else. I also have Radio Shacks if needed. The "pro" was not supposed to cut any factory harnesses. My son works nights so I will pull the radio to see what they did. Thanks for the advice.

there could be a couple of problems that are making it sound bad.  Often mixing aftermarket subs with the factory subs do not mix well because by the time the factory sub is maxed out and sounding bad, the aftermarket is just warming up.

Has he replaced any of the speakers?  Check out page 2 of my cardomain page

Make sure you get the one thats made to plug into the 460 harness. There's alot of them out there and for some reason alot of places are somehow confused when it comes to the 460 system. Don't let them sell you anything unless it's these, or if the place you go to sells a different make them look it up and make sure it's the corresponding part from their parts manufacturer.

Halfway down you will find the Metra wiring parts to do so. Part numbers FDO2B and FDO3B. When you find them if your not sure which one you need, buy both and return the non-needed one.

there is nothing really wrong with using the speaker outputs, if you use rca you will need a high power (8v) output deck or you will need a line driver to get the output up to where the factory amp likes it.

Is it the stock speakers or the new sub/amp that sounds bad?  Disconnect the rca's to your aftermarket amp and see what the factory system sounds like.  Could be as simple as putting bass blockers in the tweets.

hooked up the rca jacks and the crisp sound is back. Now we have to find what is viberating in the back area.

you probably need to get some bass blockers(capacitors) to take the bass out of the tweets.
