I did some thinking and I came to a conclusion that if a new camaro was to look the way it is depicted in this post I would take new camaro over new mustang, gto, charger or whatever hot ride there is in a similar price range.

I am a big muscle car fan. Nothing compares with the sound of their exhausts and power when you push on the throttle.

I love my mustang very much, but I am still drawn to the trans ams, fire birds and the cameros. I am surprised I haven't had an accident by now from watching them drive by.

I love the their shapes because they are so distinctive. When you see any of those, you immediately know what they are. All those imports look alike. Blah!! To me there is just no style.

That picture at the top at first glance does remind me of the new mustang. Why can't those designers show some imagination instead of copying others.

I have to say I do like that camaro. I love mustangs and always will but my heart has always belonged to the Trans Am. Dont get me wrong I am torn between a 78 trans and a 70 Boss. As far as to say that if they bring a new f-body out that it will never beat the Mustang is a little far fetched. I remember a similiar argument in 1994 and we all have seen what happend there. Mustangs have been the nicer of the 2 but I have to give GM its props where they are due. The F-bodies have always been a little faster and had a little more power. Far as the 2007 Shelby you cant really compare that to a stock F-body. Shelby is an aftermarket company after all. That would be like comparing a Yenko camaro and a stock 69 Mustang. Just not quite fair.

No one here can deny the late 60's Camaros were one of the best looking cars of all time. If they bring it back you can't say they ripped off the mustang that would just be you in denial. As for if the camaro will be faster, of course it will be faster. The new GT is putting down from what I've read anywhere between 13.5 and 13.8 in the quarter mile. The last model of the F-Body could snap off the 1/4 in that or quicker, plus Chevy will go with a larger displacement motor. Expect the next Camaro to look GREAT not to mention easily nail the quarter in low 13's stock.

Motor Trend magazine said GM has dropped any ideas of building the Camaro or the Chevelle.

...Unfortunately

Don't get me wrong, I don't like Camaros/Trans Ams (except the 60s/early 70s models), but without competition Ford will slack on the mustang and it'll go downhill

I build and retool car plants for a living. This new Camaro is going to be made at the Corvette plant in Bowling Green Ky. The line tooling was done in early July. I had the chance to work on it ,but didnt so I can not personally verify anything but that was what I was told.
