A really old man lived up the street from me, in my GT he would always wave at me to slow down when going by his house. It didn't matter if I was going 10 mph or 15 mph, he would freak out. There are speed limit signs posted everywhere of 30mph...
Needless to say one day he happened to be at the edge of his lawn and I was doing all of 15mph because of potholes and he jumped out infront of my car. I stopped, rolled down the window and decided to hear him out. He told me "I have your numbers, you don't know who I know, I'll have your license on my table". So I told him I never speed because of the amount of kids and potholes in the neighborhood and if he feels he thinks I'm speeding that he should call the police, file his complaint and quit harassing me. He got pissy and was trying to lean into my window and yell at me, so I rolled up my window enough to get his elbow off my car and he started cussing me out, so I told him if his medicaid wouldn't pay for his eye exams and glasses that I would gladly pay for them both so he can accurately see and determine my speed when I drive by his house. This was maybe 4 years ago?
Early last summer everytime I drove by I would wave to him, just to be an ass. He would glare at me everytime... Not long after one day I was sitting at a stop sign just a couple houses down from him and an older lady waved and asked how my day was going. She introduced herself, then I realized who she was and she apologized for her 'grumpy old husband' for throwing a fit in the road 'that one time years ago'.
It was pretty funny.

The old safety guy at work always goes circus over the stang when I drive it. He's always yelling at me to slow down and I say my speedo starts at 10mph, what do you want me to do?
The best was when I took the owners son out to lunch and we came back on the lot going about 15 and he pulls along side in the gator and starts yelling at me. I drop it in neutral and rev it up to about 3.5k. I just look at him like WHAT?? I CANT HEAR YOU??. He starts yelling louder, push it to 4k. The boss' son is dying laughing in the pass seat. He gets pissed and drives off. Old people can be such toolbags!
Or maybe I'm just a punk kid always starting trouble! At 28?? Is that even possible!?!

There are no kids and I slow down when I find it necessary. He called the cops on my parents and always gave me the "headshake" and glare...

He says now you have hit a pedstrian and heads over across the street into the court house to see the sherriff. I tell my son to stay there and follow him in. The sherriff asks us for our drivers license to run a check and he doesn't have one. He gets a ticket and me and the sherriff chew the fat because he works with my wife over school issues weekly. Bottom line, if you are driving without a license, don't go into the cops and ask for help.

I should be the one complaining in my neighborhood. I quietly work on my car while the neighbor next to me make rude remarks about our cars and my family. Their 2 dogs bark constantly and I mean constantly!! There are another 3 dogs that also bark all the time that their 2 dogs are out. When my dog is outside it dosen't bark, even when the others are. I keep my dog tied up while some of the neighbors dogs wander into my yard while I have to keep my dog from humping their ass!
I hope the neighbors are enjoying half of my interior spread out on my yard while I am removing some sound deadening! :D

theres a little park at the front of my hood and no kids were out. i had just washed the car and it started raining a little so i was super pissed for whatever reason. so i head down my road and just nail it through first which tops out at like 35. some dude was bitching at me hardcore but i guess he had reason to, the limit's 30 and theres no reason to take off like that where so many kids normally play.
new parents in my neighborhood are pretty bad cause their kids play with eachother across the street sometimes so in my old age (20 lol) ive learned to just go like 20 or 25 in the stretch where kids are out a lot cause i dont want to hit one or get glares from their parents

cops are at my house id say twice every 3 weeks, neighbors hate my GTP and Saleen, they think they are loud and obnoxious, one neighbor even asked me one time if something was wrong with my gtp because they herd the supercharger wine and so they thought it was going to blow up lmao, i just laughed and drove by. Cops show up every once in a while to "check on things", we are known on my street for loud fast cars, my brother has 2 Mitsubishi eclipses with loud exhausts, and an Evo 9 thats super loud, so the neighbors just basicly hate us for that, not to mention every car has a loud ass system in it.
JD1969
04-11-2008, 12:41 PM
Some of you guys sound like you actually bring it upon yourselves. Bumping loud systems in a neighborhood is a totally asshole thing to do, I don't care what tim of day it is. I easily have the loudest car on my street and I never have had anyone complain, and I get along with everyone in my neighborhood. Ever heard the saying "don't $hit where you sleep"? That applies here. Drive nice and act respectible in your own neighborhood. Now of course there are dumb jerks that think just because a car is loud it is going fast, those people can suck a fat one.

Hahah some of you guys deserve the harassment...
If the old guy who stuck his head in my car was someone my age or even in his 40's, there would have been a much bigger problem...but he was a frail old geezer who probably in his day could have gotten something done at the police station with my license, but I knew he was just trying to be tough.
When I had my 88 Iroc-Z Convertible, right after I had it repainted white, someone in the neighborhood had a white eclipse that would race around on the streets with his massive fart pipe. A couple times the police came and knocked on my door after 9 or 10pm to tell me neighbors had complained. It took a couple visits before the neighbors got their stories straight and figured out who was making all the noise.
Another good one was my friends Jeep. He had an older lifted Cherokee with a 383 SBC and 4.56 gears, whenever he would shift from reverse to drive it would chirp the tires real quick. One time we went to go play in the mud, he was backing down my driveway and when he switched to drive it chirped the tires just enough to make some noise, he wasn't speeding or taking off fast. The state trooper at the end of my street happened to be out in his driveway throwing an absolute huge fit when we drove past. Couple days later I came home and had a message on my answering machine from the state police barracks about a complaint the trooper filed. My buddy was so pissed that he drove up to the barracks, asked for the trooper who filed the complaint and showed him how it chirps the tires when you go from reverse to drive.

If your car looks fast and sounds loud, then people will often think you are going too fast....even when you aren't. Go 25 in a 25 speed zone in a minivan and you probably won't draw any attention. Do the same speed in a Mustang or Camaro with a noticeable exhaust note and you will definitely get some attention.

i live right next to a park, so i don't really go over the speed limit (unless i'm in a real hurry, then i'm only going 5 over). but i've had the neighbors complain about my Camaro, Harley and Honda motorcycle so many times. i'm pretty much on a first name basis with half the cops here in town, because they've been over to my house so many times. i could literally idle down my street in the Camaro and the neighbors would call the cops on me.[:@] i don't even have the loudest vehicle on my block, one of the guys who lives up the hill from me has a 557 BBF powered Shelby Cobra kit car that runs longtubes and that's it. nobody ever complains about him.[>:]

Well, there's this one old lady who looks like a hobbit who lives on my road who thinks she lives in a retirment home or something. Nobody on my road likes her, all she does is complain about everything. Everytime i would ride my quad and go by her house she would give us a nasty look and i would just wave to her. One time she stood out in the middle of the road and stuck a broom out to one side, I stopped to listen to what she had to say... She said some b.s. about how my quad was too loud and i was going to fast or some BS like that, so i just left. So then my firend told his dad what happened because she had tried to stop us before, he went down there and was flipping out on her, it was the funniest thing i've ever seen, she tried to deny it at first, then she tried saying how she was doing it for our safety. Now she doesnt even look at me when i drive by in my car or my quad, but I left a burnout infront of her house that she can look at when she's cleaning her yard every week.

I kid you not I could be at a stop sign and people would come up to my window. Needless to say I was very pleased when the finally finished the alternative route to work!
I use to get it alot with my sixxer too. My exhaust was loud and the neighbor at my mom's house despise me. She was crotchy old broad too. There is NO excuse for exceeding the posted speed limit in a residential area. None.
Could you imagine what your life would be like if you hit a child because you were speeding? Even by 5mph! If you were speeding, game over. Period.Your life would be **** at best.
That is my most cardinal rule about driving. Residential areas are off-limits no matter how tempting.
That being said, I used to own a 68 Firebird 400/400 combo and would run through our neighborhood at about a 20mph roll in 1st gear. Well, needless to say, the revs were up there so it got attention (hey, I was 20ish at the time) and I would get fussed at by the neighborhood MILFS for 'going so fast'. I knew them all so when I saw them next time I explained that it just sounded like I was going fast. After that, no sweat.
Don't muck around in residential areas. The consequences could be dire.
5mph? Sounds like somebody was bored or senile.
