you don't actually know what any of that means, do you
the theory in question here is that of an inflationary universe.
i think the only evidence is the existence of red shift in the farthest reaching superclusters.
I say not a single person knows whats going to happen because its all theory. To quote one of my favorites "The universe is not required to be in perfect harmony with human ambition" Carl Sagan.

I know as much about physics as you do about girls.
Nah seriously, I was just thinking of different FTL anomalies. But hey.
EDIT: Carl Sagan was such a BAMF... I love that show narrated by him on the Science channel!

Supposing that you were traveling at the speed of light, nothing would happen if you turned your headlights on. You, as well as the light being emmitted would be traveling at the same speed. Light speed is pretty much accepted as the "universe speed limit"...It would be pretty hard to test this theory though since you would need an infinite amount of fuel to propell an object with mass to light speed.
Go study some physics.
Whoever said it was impossible to travel at light speed, was correct. As you approach light speed, you become infinitely more massive, and it takes infinitely more force to accelerate your motion.
And you are completely wrong. even if you were moving at light speed, albiet impossible, light would still move at the same speed. Light is the only non-relative moving particles. While my motion and your motion is relative, light isn't. IT always travels at 2.99x10^8 meters per second, and no matter how fast you travel, it would never appear to travel at anything less than light speed. Because time and space aren't flat as most people think they are, and are actually curved, you just won't ever change how relatively quickly light is traveling.

I only suggested that if the universe can expand faster than the speed of light, it may be possible for us to do it too sometime. "For the world is hollow, and I have touched the sky."
If this is true, then we are already traveling faster than the speed of light because this planet, this galaxie that we are hitching a ride on is going that fast. Can you see my hair blowing?

since when is the universe expanding at greater than the speed of light? As far as the brightest physicists in the world know, gravity isn't even communicated faster than the speed of light, nor is time dialation. Not even a small particle, a muon, can be accellerated past 97.5% of the speed of light because of how exponentially heavy it becomes. The speed of light is a limit, a asymptote if you havn't gotten far enough to study the absolutes of limits. The only thing traveling at the speed of light is light itself, and it can never slow down.
Realize that if you were traveling at the speed of light, 10seconds to you would take 2:00 or more in our realities. So if light travels at 670million miles/hr, you couldn't concieve of going as fast as light, after all, your impulses in your brain are firing of neurons, which occur at what speed? The speed of light. So if there is a limit to how quickly you can experience something, for how long it takes to register in your mind, then what makes you think it would seem to be different than anything else?
Remember, relative motion is undetectable. You and I both have equal rights to say that we are stationary, even if our position relative to one another changes. Even accelerated motion, in which a force can be felt, can be attributed to being stationary and feeling the affects of gravity on your body. So even if you are accelerating at 9.8meters per second squared, you can say that you are stationary, and that everything else is moving, and that what you are feeling is gravity.
Therefore, even if you were relatively traveling at 670million miles per hour, compared to something else, you would still have equal claim to being stationary. If you can claim, traveling at 670 million miles per hour, to be stationary, and relatively being correct, then you can't travel at the same speed of light, because specifically light doesnt travel relatively. the motion of light isn't relative, it is always moving, whereas you and I can claim to be stationary, no matter how fast we are "moving"

exactly. 100% correct. a few things i didn't know too.
what i find interesting is the direct exponential relationship between speed and mass. what properties make photons exempt from this rule? don't they have mass as well?
they exhibit both wavelike and particle like characteristics. Physicists have yet to figure out why this is yet, but string theory is starting to shed light on things like this.

You can go backi n this thread a take a look at the refference site I posted. If we are traveling in a car going 60 mph, how fast are we traveling If we are traveling on a planet going faster than the speed of light, how fast are we traveling?

the universe is expanding faster the the speed of light. or was at some point in the beginning.

Well, your reputation on here doesn't offer too much credibility but I'll take what I can get. I watched a show on the science channel not too long ago that backed up this claim. So, perhaps folks aren't as up to date on the latest news as they hoped they were.

that's not only impossible physically, is provable that its not moving faster now.
im just the messenger bro. I always be watching astral stuff on TV

Alright, I sure as hell hope you guys aren't taking what is on TV as actuall evidence or anything other than entertainment. Most of everything on the discovery channel is theory that has verry little, to no evidence supporting what is claimed.
All motion is relative, except for that of light, which is absolute. My god people, it's the theory of special relativity, which was founded almost 100 years ago, and still very few people understand it? that's just pathetic.

Did you read my "proof?" All questions are answered.
Your "proof" would undermine Einstein and Newton, which no one has ever been able to come close to do. You are quite simply an idiot if you think that anything you could come up with could undermine their theories.
Relative motion means that no matter how fast you "think" your moving, you still have every physical right to claim that you are absolutely stationairy, whereas light doesn't.
The universe expanding, that's funny. How can existance expand? simply put? it can't. The planets are spreading out, and the warping of time and space is lessening, but that doesn't mean that existance is "expanding"

Han Solo went lightspeed in the Milleniun Falcon, so yeah, it's been done...
Dude, the Falcon will, and i quote: "make point 5 past lightspeed". Meaning the ship is .5... somethings... faster than lightspeed.
