the speed of light is not surpassable.

But it is. Material is known to go faster than the speed of light in the giant wormhole at the center of our galaxie. And when 2 wormholes duke it out, they go faster than TSOL as they circle each other before they merge. As the universe continues to expand away from the big bang, it is actually accelerating and is now faster than the SOL.

well when the fabric of time collapses and folds over on itself, you will then be able to jump from one end to the other no problem, therefor you can actually beat your headlights to the other side of the galaxy because the light has to travel across the whole galaxy, where you just jumped straight across. so when you turn on your headlights going light speed, marsians take out the arabs in iran and the millenium falcon shoots down your car.

Arabs aren't the problem. It's the Shiites. Yes, they are Arabs but I know some good Arabs. I don't know any good Martians.

I think we can answer this question with some reasoning here.....

Is this not the same as:

If you were to travel at the exact speed of sound at sea level and say you attached a very very lound air horn on the outside of the jet and set it off would you hear it?

I think if you were already traveling at the speed of light and THEN turned on the lights, the light would never leave the lamps....if you were looking at it from the front you would see the lamps luminated but the light wouldnt actually project outwards...

If you turned the lights on FIRST then hit light speed you would never catch up and I think your light would look projected

you are a dumbass, since the light never leaves the lamp, then it never reaches your eyes, so you'd never see them on

that's theoretical.  the universe IS expanding, but its only theoretical as to how fast it is expanding (speeding up or slowing down).  i for one, can prove all by myself that it is not expanding faster than the speed of light; as light still reaches us from the far reaches of space.  it is expanding at a rate that asymptotically approaches the speed of light; thus the phenomenon known as "red shift."

its actually einstien's special theory of relativity that explains this.

we would only see the light from an object moving away from us at greater than the speed of light if the object eventually stopped.

Exactly. Assuming you could travel at exactly the speed of light, your headlights wouldn't appear to turn on. It's just like if you were driving at 60mph and threw a baseball forward outside at 60mph and the ball never slowed down. It would never pass you.

But it would. I was on a dirt bike once throwing eggs and threw one. It came back at me and hit my goggles.

nonono if you were driving and some how were able to throw a ball and it ignore air friction first let me know how and second then the ball would to some one sitting on the side of the road the ball would apear to be goin 120 MPH and to you it would be going 60 MPH its relativity therefore light would be going the speed your goin plus its speed (TSOL)

but we are all missing the true point here who the **** calls them headlamps anymore are we still in the 30's in england?

I got that from a show I watched a week or so ago. Don't know when it was filmed but they think they have proof now that it is expanding that quickly.

LMBO    This is why I love OT.    Where else can a person find cars at light speed, baseballs at light speed x2, star wars, egg on the face, martians taking out the arabs, and millenium falcon shooting down cars, Einstein, and much more, all in one thread.
