straight piping

jal1p -> straight piping (12/3/2002 6:55:46 PM)

I have an '89 4cyl mustang and wanted to remove the muffler and put straight piping on it. If I'm trying to get a louder, deeper sound with the car do you think that this is a good idea?

noslow50 -> straight piping (12/3/2002 9:54:21 PM)

you'll definetly make it louder!!!! but since u have a 4 banger there is like no hope of getting a deeper sound. unless u put like an aftermarket muffler. since u said u want to put a straight pipe on u would more than likely be closer to the farttin sound like that of a honda.. sorry dude.

lloydchristmas -> straight piping (3/7/2003 9:10:46 PM)

Hes right you know. That would sound like you were farting into a tin can

noslow50 -> straight piping (3/9/2003 6:24:30 PM)

*raises hand*

Well, I drive a 4 banger. One of my best buds also drives a 4 banger, with a straight pipe. Damn thing is now nicknamed "The BeeHive".

You don't want straight pipes. Look at the Flowmaster 50 seires Delta Flow, along with the 60 series Delta Flow, hooked up to 2.25 inch piping. You'll be much happier than with straight pipes.

I have an 8 cyl with straight pipes and flowmasters. Holy hell my car is loud. lol. Only problem is I have to get illegal smog checks..

jeep45238 -> straight piping (4/2/2003 3:47:01 PM)

You don't have straight pipes if you have mufflers.......

Sicy Stang -> straight piping (4/2/2003 4:44:12 PM)

Well I have no catalyc converters. They are replaced instead with an H-pipe.

91GT5.0 -> straight piping (4/2/2003 6:21:44 PM)

Where in Cali do you live Sicy?? I might need to find one of those too, stupid CARB emmission laws. . .

Sicy Stang -> straight piping (4/2/2003 6:23:52 PM)

I live in the northern bay area. I know a couple guys that have shops that have hooked me up with smogs for like $200. Pricey, but worth it, unless I want to go and put the cats back on, and they havent been on for over 8 years so who knows if the car would pass smog on its own anyway.

91GT5.0 -> straight piping (4/2/2003 6:31:19 PM)

Yeah, good thing smog checks are only once every 2 years, I have to put my stock H with cats on every time I get it smogged. It's a bitch and a half, and my car feels so freakin slow.

Sicy Stang -> straight piping (4/2/2003 6:43:09 PM)

Where do you live? Wouldnt it be easier for you to just get a fake smog than go through all that replacing the cats every two years?

lol.. I always like to take the easy way out.

siouxperman21 -> straight piping (4/8/2003 1:28:00 AM)

i got a 5.0 with straight pipes sounds pretty good, its an automatic, what kind of header can i get the most out of,

noslow50 -> straight piping (4/8/2003 11:43:19 PM)

LOL i live in Michigan .... NO smog testin here. hahahahaah

jeep45238 -> straight piping (4/8/2003 11:47:09 PM)

Only 3 counties in Ohio smog, and my luck, I live in one of 'em.

siouxperman21 -> straight piping (4/14/2003 6:53:57 PM)

timothy281 -> straight piping (4/17/2003 10:28:25 PM)
