ok, so maybe I can save a couple hundred bones and install myself... but is it still worth it if I'm not going to feel the difference on the street? I'm not trying to be difficult, I honestly want to be convinced that this is worth it.

 I'll be in too. I'll get with you on payday.

Mickey,

I'm considering buying a Spydershaft as well. I'm new to the board and the SN197 gang; we just bought a 5100 mile Mineral Grey '05 GT Vert to go along with (ok ok...soon to replace) our Mineral Grey '01 Cobra Vert.  I have a couple of noob questions for you and/or the group. First, it was my understanding that the pinion bearing pre-load could only be done with internal differential out of the car...is that not true? Second, and probably a D'Oh! because they frown on all non-FRPP parts mods; does Ford consider this mod a drivetrain warranty killer?

06Saleen3V -> RE: ***Group Buy: Spydershaft Aluminum D/S*** (4/18/2008 11:32:11 AM)

I am not 100% on the Ford warranty issue. I will check and get back to you.

Just got off the phone with Ron. Here are some questions we cleared up...

Any problems with the aftermarket shifter?
   The only aftermarket shifter that the Spydershaft is not compatible is the Saleen short-throw

How much of a difference is there from the 1330-Series U-joints and the 1350-series?
      The 1350 series are said to hold twice the ft-lbs of torque. The 1330's are said to withstand 120-140 ft/lbs, but can most likely handle more. The 1350-series are an additional $120.

Hello all, newbie to this site.  Another mustang site told me about this group buy and I am most likely interested, but like others it would be later this month.

What about a Saleen short throw adaptor?

What amount of torque is typically applied to the shaft?  My question ultimately is, is the 1350 worth the extra cost.  I dynoed my car and got 303 rwhp and 309 rwtq.  I am keeping the car NA, so is it worth the extra $120.  I can use the $120 for the loops or other upgrades if not necessary.

Just because I am new I posted a pic of my GT.

Devil Wolf -> RE: ***Group Buy: Spydershaft Aluminum D/S*** (4/18/2008 1:29:00 PM)

do i need to repalce the pinion flange on my v6? i thought ours were direct bolt in but i want to make sure before i buy.

06Saleen3V -> RE: ***Group Buy: Spydershaft Aluminum D/S*** (4/21/2008 1:21:01 PM)

Devil Wolf, the kit comes with a new pinion flange so you will not need anything else.

Kluski, you will be fine with the 1330s

That is correct, it does come with a new flange. I would say the average shop would charge you 3 hours of labor, so 3x whatever their hourly labor rate is. It is a simple job if you want to save your money. It does take 2-4 hours but without difficulty

Sutton quoted me only $80 for the install.  I'd previously heard this was an easy job, maybe 1 hour if you know what you're doing.  Is that unrealistically low?

MustangBatman1 -> RE: ***Group Buy: Spydershaft Aluminum D/S*** (4/21/2008 4:32:28 PM)

I don't think thats too low. It's like you said, its about an hour install with the right tools (aka a lift) and decent shops usually charge between 50-100 per hour.

Larmo -> RE: ***Group Buy: Spydershaft Aluminum D/S*** (4/21/2008 6:12:33 PM)

Still wavering... would love to hear from those that have already installed it. Does the car feel different? More responsive?

06Saleen3V -> RE: ***Group Buy: Spydershaft Aluminum D/S*** (4/21/2008 6:45:29 PM)

Larmo, I have probably seen 20+ threads of just Spydershaft reviews of astonished customers...use the search function and check them out

buffguy -> RE: ***Group Buy: Spydershaft Aluminum D/S*** (4/21/2008 11:02:49 PM)

first link don't work

Intervention -> RE: ***Group Buy: Spydershaft Aluminum D/S*** (4/21/2008 11:19:31 PM)

I am 99% in for buying one by friday this week the latest...

Is it ground shipping?

And... are loops required to run at a Dragway if you have a modded DS? of does it go from 12.99 or quicker need loops... do they even check?

Larmo -> RE: ***Group Buy: Spydershaft Aluminum D/S*** (4/22/2008 1:39:32 PM)

I love being told to use the search function.

mach1351 -> RE: ***Group Buy: Spydershaft Aluminum D/S*** (4/23/2008 1:54:41 PM)

Mickey,  Great deal, count me in for one also. Need it for an 07 Mustang GT manual. I will call you tomorrow to place the order.  Thanks,  Jay

BUMP

Maverickaf17 -> RE: ***Group Buy: Spydershaft Aluminum D/S*** (4/27/2008 6:05:00 PM)

I have a 2005 V6 with X-Charger.

If I buy one, I heard I will be able to go OVER my 120 mph speed limit and up to 160 mph safely. Is this true?

Larmo -> RE: ***Group Buy: Spydershaft Aluminum D/S*** (4/29/2008 5:20:04 PM)

Mickey, so is tomorrow (4/30) the last day for this group buy?

Thanks,

Kluski -> RE: ***Group Buy: Spydershaft Aluminum D/S*** (4/30/2008 9:13:18 AM)

I put my order in.  Do we get a confirmation of when they ship?

Larmo -> RE: ***Group Buy: Spydershaft Aluminum D/S*** (4/30/2008 5:42:05 PM)

Mickey, if you can extend this a few days I will be in.
