Right now Im looking at a '67 mustang. orig. paint, it was a i6 now a v8 but it still has the 4 lug suspension. almost no rust so to speak except for the corner of the passenger door and the interior is in pretty decent shape as well. the car has been sitting for 6-7 years without running and i was wondering if there is an easy way to tell if the motor is seized. the distributor was stolen when they left it at a storage facility so it wont run right now. the motor was apparently re-built before it was put into storage and it has clean oil in it so i think it should be fine. the guy is asking $1800 but he says he just wants it gone so im going to call him up and offer him $1000 tomorrow morning (i looked at it tonight and told him id give him a call in the morning). so basically questions are how hard is it to convert the '67s from 4 to 5 lug and how can i tell if the engine is seized?

has it been sitting with water in it all this time? If yes, see that post on the overheating 65. It will be full of gunk and rust.
why would you think it was siezed?
you can pull the plugs and put a socket on the main crank bolt to turn it over.

yeah you can turn it over with the bolt on the crank, below the waterpump. I believe mine was a 13/16 inch socket. Aussie, why do you have to pull the plugs to do this?

sweet, ill bring that with me when i go back tomorrow to look at it again and possibly finalize the deal. worst case its seized and ill have to drop in a 351 or 428 or something of that nature. id hate to say good bye to that 289 but im willing to sacrifice.

I doubt it'd be seized, especially if it was put away in storage (but maybe thats why it was put away in storage?) Also bring like a breaker bar or something of that nature to turn it over, it can be difficult sometimes. Also bring sockets around 13/16 inch size because I don't want you to blame me if that's not what it was

If you can get that car for $1000, get her running, do a few odds and ends... you could easilyturn a profit. Which we all know just doesnt happen very often with these cars.
That car is worth more than $1000 as a parts car! I will look forward to seeing more pics!
